On that day my teammates and I were playing for the state championship I was really nervous, but yet even more excited. As I walked up to the field I could not believe that this was really happening. Fans from both schools were everywhere the excitement level was at a fever pitch. I have dreamt for this moment my whole life.
Both teams were introduced prior to the start of the game, and Victory Field was rocking. I took the field with my teammates, after the first pitch my emotions switched from nervousness to tranquility. After their first at bat we held them to no runs and it was our turn to hit now. My first at bat I hit a hard grounder, which scored the first run of the game. After that run, we never looked back. I was excited to get back behind the plate and control the game. Over the next few innings we put up five more runs and they put up three, and the scoreboard read 6-3 going into the top of the 7th inning. The first batter of the inning struck out making it only two more outs to victory. The next hitter got on with a hit and this brought their best hitter to the plate. On a 1-1 count he swung and hit a line drive to our shortstop, which he then threw to first base for a double play.
This was it we had won the game. I ran out to our pitcher and started a dog pile. The surrealness of the situation was unbelievable; we had become state champs. When they brought the trophy out we immediately held it up with great pride. After the ceremony my family and friends congratulated me. Finally after four years of hard work and dedication I finally fulfilled my dream of winning a state championship. I was now ready to start my next chapter of my baseball career.
Word count: 346
