Ubuntu has advantages over Windows in that it is free, has an open source code making it better for developers, and is generally more stable than Windows. However, Windows has advantages in that it has more driver support, works with more existing programs, and is simpler to use than Ubuntu which can be more complicated. Overall both operating systems have tradeoffs between being easier to use but less stable for Windows, and offering free open source software with better long term stability for Ubuntu but at the cost of more complexity.
