The document is a survey report on activities adults did as children and how their children's activities compare. Some key findings:
- Most adults played at home, in gardens, and school playgrounds as children. Fewer played in wild spaces.
- Children of surveyed adults play in similar areas but are more supervised, especially in school playgrounds, homes, and gardens.
- Adults from rural areas and those with higher access to nature as children can identify more plant and animal species now.
The needs assessment survey was designed in 2012 to understand what alumnae interests and practices when it comes to the Palmer Society. 111 Palmer alumnae, representing classes from 1940 – 2011 participated in a needs assessment survey. These results reflect the Homecoming Specific portion of the Survey.

This document summarizes a presentation about managing large CICS estates using system management facility (SMF) data and workload manager tools. It describes using statistical and topological approaches to understand the CICS landscape by analyzing SMF 30 data on region usage and connections between regions, DB2, and MQ. It also discusses using RMF and WLM reporting classes to monitor performance and view transaction-level data from CICS, DB2, and MQ instrumentation for select regions. The goal is to help customers productively manage their portfolio of hundreds or thousands of CICS regions.
This document discusses the need for IT and facilities teams to work together to ensure the successful design, operation, and maintenance of mission critical environments like data centers. While IT and facilities have different perspectives and requirements, cooperation between the teams is important. Regular communication is needed to understand each group's challenges and integrate IT growth plans with the facilities design. Collaboration throughout the project lifecycle from planning to commissioning and maintenance is key to meeting the organization's goals.
A logistic regression was performed to determine the effects of various economic, social, and health factors on the likelihood of smoking. Several factors were found to be statistically significant predictors of smoking. Those unemployed or retired were more likely to smoke compared to those employed. Those who were married, separated, or widowed were also more likely to smoke. Higher body mass index and reports of pain or discomfort also increased the likelihood of smoking. The logistic regression model correctly classified 88% of cases and explained 10.8% of the variance in smoking.
This presentation discusses managing the performance of address spaces in a z/OS system. It notes that typical systems have hundreds to thousands of diverse address spaces across LPARs. The presentation centers around SMF Type 30 records, discussing when to rely on common instrumentation for all address spaces versus using specific data for certain address spaces like CICS or data set records. It covers treating each address space as a "black box" initially, then distinguishing between long-running address spaces like CICS and DB2 versus batch jobs. Timestamp analysis of records is recommended to analyze steps in batch jobs.
This document provides tips for having a non-stressful and successful trip. It recommends planning ahead by researching destinations, purchasing travel insurance and necessary items, learning basic phrases, and checking in early for flights. It also suggests being flexible with a slight itinerary, getting adequate rest on long flights, embracing new cultures when traveling, speaking slowly and clearly across language barriers, and taking risks by saying yes to new adventures when traveling.
The document discusses ICT trends in Slovenia and surrounding regions from 2000-2006. It finds that while Slovenia initially had a larger gap in internet penetration compared to the EU, this gap closed by 2006 as purchasing power increased. Other countries in the region like Croatia lagged roughly 2 years behind Slovenia. The key gaps appear due to differences in purchasing power, but can be temporary as purchasing power thresholds are met. For the region to enable an ICT boom, proper infrastructure like competitive broadband supply is needed, as lack of infrastructure and supply have inhibited penetration rates.
This document describes ZAP Trusted Analytics, a framework and set of pre-built analytics for Microsoft Dynamics that aims to provide organization-wide transparency, alignment, and decision making. It discusses how the solution offers role-based dashboards and metrics for various business functions like sales, marketing, finance, supply chain, manufacturing, and retail. The benefits highlighted include accelerated time to value, lower costs than custom solutions, and improved organizational alignment through a single source of business logic and metrics.

Key Findings
Areas Played in as a Child
At home, in the garden and the school playground are by far the most commonly
mentioned places to play.
Fields generally and more specifically, school playing fields are also quite common.
At a lower level, wild spaces, streets near home, outdoor playground and woods are
mentioned, with levels all still over 50%.
Indoor activity centre is at much lower levels.
Looking at the demographics behind these figures, boys appear to have played a
little further away from home, as did the over 55s.
Obvious differences emerge by region and area, with Dubliners and urban dwellers
least likely to play in fields, woods, or other wild spaces, and a little more likely to
have played in indoor activity centres.

Key Findings
Level of Supervision Playing as a Child
School and at home, indoors are the most supervised areas, with over half supervised
in these areas. Just under half felt they were supervised in the garden, with roughly
a third supervised in an outdoor playground.
Less than a quarter felt they were supervised in indoor activity centres, on the
streets, in fields, woods or other wild places.
Men and over 35s, much less likely to have been supervised.
J.2030
38. 104
Key Findings
Areas Own Children Play/Played in Aged 7-11
Own children play or played primarily at home or in the garden and at school, with
school playing fields, and outdoor playground forming a second division.
Indoor activity centres, fields and streets are above the 50% level, with other wild
spaces just below this and woods at just over a third.
The key differences included reductions in children playing in fields 82% 59%,
other wild spaces 69% 49%, and woods 56% 37%, and an increase in people
playing in school playground 87% 92%, school playing fields 76% 83%, outdoor
playground 62% 80% and indoor activity centre 27% 68%.
There is less gender bias evident than with the adults, although the regional skew
remains.

Key Findings
Level of Supervision of Own Children’s Play
Home and school are again the key areas, as are indoor and outdoor play areas – all
of these are above 66%.
Streets and fields are next at below half, with wild space at a third and woods at one
quarter.

Key Findings
Access to & Appreciation of Nature/Wild Areas
83% of adults or over 4 in 5 felt they had access to nature/wild areas as a child, with
78% or just under 4 in 5 suggesting that their kids have access to these spaces.
Adults on average believe they can identify 7.8 of the 9 species, but reckon their
children can only identify 6.6.
Amongst adults, under 35s drops to 7.0 and in Dublin it comes in at 7.4.
J.2030
41. 107
Key Findings
Outdoor Activities Enjoyed as a Child
Widespread enjoyment of most of the activities under review; only gardening,
swimming in a lake/river and looking for insects fall below the enjoyment threshold.
However, when we look at activities they involve their children in nowadays, while
feeding the birds has a significant lead, gardening and looking for insects are second
and third.
50% have never swum in a lake or river with their kids, 40% have never climbed trees
and one in three have never made a daisy chain or built a camp/den.
Appreciation of the outdoors
There is widespread agreement with the positive physical and mental health
benefits. Over 9 in 10 agree strongly with these statements. Agreeing strongly drops
to 85% in relation to sleeping better following time spent outdoors and drops again to
71% in relation to outdoor activities being an important part of a child’s
development.
