The survey summarizes data from the Okanagan Mainline Real Estate Board (OMREB) regarding property buyers in January 2014. It shows that the most common buyer categories were first time buyers (20.8%), those moving to an upgraded property (26.4%), and empty nesters/retirees (23.7%). Most buyers financed their purchase through a conventional mortgage (58.1%) or paid all cash (27.2%). The majority of buyers moved from within the OMREB area (60.3%), primarily purchasing property in Kelowna/West Kelowna (51.9%).
