Charles Plumb was a US Navy jet pilot in Vietnam who was shot down during his 75th combat mission. He was captured and spent 6 years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam. After being released, Plumb was eating in a restaurant when a man approached him and said he had packed Plumb's parachute. Plumb realized that if the man hadn't properly packed his parachute, he wouldn't have survived being shot down. This led Plumb to reflect on how we often fail to properly thank those who provide important, sometimes life-saving support behind the scenes. He encourages us to recognize those who help "pack our parachutes" each day.
