An introduction to lessons on the fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5.22-24), reminding us that we will reap what we sow. Principle points adapted from John Shearheart (http://www.sermoncentral.com/Sermon.asp?SermonID=89370).
The document is a religious presentation that discusses the concept of sin and redemption through Jesus Christ. It references several Bible passages to tell the story of the prodigal son and explain that all people have sinned but can be saved by repenting and believing in Jesus, who died for sins and was resurrected. The presentation encourages the audience to learn more by attending Sunday services or Bible studies to better understand how to be saved through baptism into Christ.
The document summarizes the sacraments of initiation in Christianity. It discusses baptism as being born again of water and spirit, and cites biblical passages about baptism and circumcision. It also mentions baptism of desire, baptism by blood, and the communion of saints. The presentation defines the 'matter' of sacraments as symbols and quotes the words used in baptism and encourages Christians to let their light shine through good works.
The essence of marriage is companionship. Of two people joined together as one. Aquila and Priscilla remind us of the unity we can have together in working, stress and spiritual aspects of our lives.
Talk by Pastor Brent Lokker. Jesus lived as God's Son on the earth so that we could be God's loved sons and daughters too. Brent explores what that means for us in this life. To listen, go to http://blazingfire.podbean.com/e/jesus-son-of-god-brent-lokker/
You will see in this lesson the importance of pausing to carefully consider the kind of love that our Father has demonstrated to us in sending His son so that we can be His children. The parables in Luke 15 help us to understand that although we are lost and dead, He looks for our return and accepts as sons, not servants.
Joseph and Mary traveled from Nazareth to Bethlehem for a Roman census. While there, Mary gave birth to Jesus, but because the inn was full, she laid the baby Jesus in a manger. Angels announced the birth of the Savior to shepherds watching their flocks at night, who then went to see the newborn child.
This poem describes the spirit of Christmas through symbols of love, kindness, celebration of Jesus's birth, sparkling lights reminiscent of the star that guided the wise men, giving gifts and sacrificing time and money to help others, and creating loving memories with friends and family. The overall message is that Christmas represents an infinite, peaceful love.
This document discusses superstition and its relationship to Christianity. It defines superstition as irrational beliefs resulting from ignorance or fear of the unknown. While some superstitions are harmless, others can be very serious, influencing behavior. Both terrestrial and celestial superstitions are addressed. The document emphasizes that as Christians, we should put our trust and hope in Christ rather than fear, as Christ has power over demons and the devil. Repentance and a consecrated life free us from the spiritual powers and bondage of this world.

This document discusses the fruits of the Spirit and what it means to bear fruit as a Christian. It makes three key points:
1) Christians can only bear fruit by remaining connected to Christ, represented as the vine. Apart from Christ, we can do nothing.
2) God prunes us to remove obstacles and allow us to bear more and better fruit, though this process can be painful.
3) Bearing fruit reveals that we have received salvation through faith in Jesus, but it does not achieve our salvation. Our works demonstrate the reality of our salvation, rather than providing it.
This document discusses celebrating and grieving on Mother's Day. It includes a quote about the blessings of motherhood. While Mother's Day elicits different emotions, the author says they are celebrating while also grieving on this Mother's Day. The document references Bible verses about Christ exemplifying sacrificial love by dying for humanity. It notes most mothers die to themselves to love their children through a sacrificial love, producing many seeds (children), as the verse about a grain of wheat falling to the ground and dying suggests.
The document contains announcements for an 8-week sermon series on the integrity of God's word starting January 4th at 9 am. It also lists various books of the Bible that will be covered. Additional announcements promote an upcoming Wednesday class taught by the pastor, encourage joining in prayer, advertise an upcoming Christmas program and luncheon, and note an effort to raise money for new carpet.
Advent is the period of preparation before Christmas celebrating the coming of Christ. The document provides goals and ways to celebrate Advent such as using an Advent calendar, candle lighting, and Scripture memorization to keep celebrations simple yet Christ-centered. Specific activities are outlined for each of the four weeks before Christmas focusing on themes of prophecy, Bethlehem, shepherds, and the angel along with recommended books and websites for Advent traditions.
This document discusses four kinds of a mother's love:
1. Sacrificial love, exemplified by Moses' mother who hid him for three months and then placed him in a basket in the Nile to save him.
2. Influential love, where mothers pass on their faith to their children through teaching scripture from an early age.
3. Delightful love, with mothers nurturing their children and providing for them as a vine provides fruit or a lioness cares for her cubs.
4. Committed love, as shown by Jesus' mother Mary who stood by the cross until the end, and a mother who cannot forget her child.

When the Israelites obeyed God's orders and gave a great shout on the seventh day, the walls of Jericho fell down and the Israelites were able to defeat the city through their obedience to God's commands. The document emphasizes that obedience to God can lead to victory, as it did for Joshua and the Israelites at Jericho.

This document is a summary of a presentation titled "The Power of Vision: Lessons from Nehemiah" given by Dave Stewart. It discusses how Nehemiah provides an example of having vision by seeing problems, working to fix them, fighting opposition through prayer. The presentation identifies five areas for the congregation to focus on rebuilding: knowledge, distinctiveness, morality, family, and prayer. It concludes by quoting scripture about doing all things with love.
God’s Word is a great treasure. It has been given to us to help us through our lives. Using 2 Timothy 3.16, Paul reminds us that the word of God is profitable for us because it identifies the path, shows us when we are off of the path, helps us to return to the path and helps us to know how to stay on the path.
Through the gospel of Jesus, we enter into fellowship with God and with one another. These relationships are inherently interrelated. Fellowship describes the intimate joining together in this relationship.
The church in Sardis is described as being "dead", not just mostly dead. Jesus reminds them that they must wake up, strengthen what remains of their faith, remember what they had previously received, keep it, and repent. The document examines what it means to be spiritually "dead" through various Bible passages. It provides 5 steps to "rising from the dead": wake up, strengthen, remember, keep it, and repent. It concludes by asking the reader if their own church is "dead", lacking spiritual life and vitality.
This orientation session provides instructions for students on how to navigate and complete their first module session. The document provides guidance on what to do if students get stuck or have questions, including revisiting previous pages or asking their teacher. It previews the different types of questions that will be in later sessions.
The purpose of man is to fear God and keep His commandments (Ecclesiastes 12.14). What happens when we don’t fulfill our purpose? Sin is a violation of the law, but it’s also a burden of guilt and shame. Sin is something we choose to do that separates us from God. Our only hope is in God’s plan for our salvation.
The document provides an overview of color theory and techniques for managing color in art. It discusses how colors are created by additive and subtractive processes using lights and pigments. The document discusses key considerations for designing effective learning spaces. It emphasizes that learning spaces should be flexible, future-proofed, bold, supportive, and enterprising. Spaces need to accommodate evolving pedagogies and technologies. Designs should be linked to the institution's strategic vision and support simultaneous face-to-face and virtual learning. Learning spaces of the future may have a greater emphasis on wireless technologies, student-centered approaches, and developing wider skills like creativity and adaptability.
Present and Future of Maemo Digital MarketingIsko Salminen
This document discusses the present and future of Maemo digital marketing. It provides a brief history of Maemo from 2005-2007. The goals are to set a new benchmark for Nokia digital marketing, create a fresh software experience approach, and build a collaborative marketing platform. The challenge is to create value for the Maemo community. Currently, the platform launched with over 3 million visitors in the first 24 hours and 10 million visitors from August 27 to September 15, 2009. Maemo Select highlights applications from the Ovi Store and community. Future challenges include ensuring collaboration between Nokia and the community, as Maemo's identity relies on being a strong community. A marketing brainstorm meeting is proposed to improve maemo.org and maemo.
The document discusses the importance of remembering God's power through miracles and establishing memorials. It notes stories from Joshua of God parting the Jordan River for the Israelites to cross on dry land and establishing stones from the river as a memorial. The Israelites then circumcised their men and kept the Passover. The document emphasizes that miracles reveal God's mighty power and remind people of what He has done, while memorials are important for remembering God's works when people tend to forget.
Can we know absolutely whether something is right or wrong? What is our standard of morality? The only absolute standard we can have is to look back to the one who created us and imitate Him. We know right and wrong because it is the very character of God.
God begins His revelation to man by stating that He created all things. It reminds us of His power and that He is worthy of our worship. Refusal to submit to the Creator leads to moral corruption. All of us have turned away from God in sin, but Jesus died so that we could become new creatures.
Paul and Joshua remind us that although we may sometimes fail in our obedience to God, we can return to joy and victory if we will 1) Overcome our sense of failure; 2) Return to Full Obedience; and 3) Trust in God’s Complete Forgiveness.
The Gibeonites tricked Joshua and Israel into making a covenant with them, and it provides some powerfully important lessons for us today. First, we must remember that there are deceivers out to deceive us; second, that we are most easily deceived when we fail to seek God’s counsel and finally that we must keep our promises even if they are based on deceit.
The psalmist calls on his soul and all that is within him to bless Jehovah and not forget all of His benefits. These benefits include forgiving all iniquities, healing all diseases, redeeming life from the pit, crowning with steadfast love and mercy, and satisfying with good so that youth is renewed like the eagle's. The psalmist emphasizes blessing and praising God for all that He does.
The document summarizes a sermon discussing the next generation. It notes that some worry about today's youth based on superficial judgments but finds hope in the young people at the congregation who led worship services respectfully. The sermon argues the next generation will succeed if they have godly parents who prioritize God and teach steadfast faith. It praises the East Main church's young people for their encouraging example and work.
There is only one real solution to the storms of life: Jesus. If you face great storms and long from a great calm; if you are afraid and have little faith then cry out to Jesus. Three lessons: Jesus is on the boat with you; He cares; and cry out to Him when afraid.
The document discusses the eight character traits described in the Beatitudes in Matthew 5:3-12. Each trait is explained with examples from Scripture that reference Jesus and how he embodied each characteristic. The traits discussed are being poor in spirit, mourning, being meek, hungering and thirsting for righteousness, showing mercy, purity of heart, making peace, and suffering for righteousness. The purpose is to explain the character necessary for those in God's kingdom by looking to Jesus as the ultimate example.
The Fruit of the Spirit is Self-ControlDave Stewart
The final fruit of the spirit is self-control, which means that we are to have control over our bodies and minds. The apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 9 reminded us that we must be like athletes.
Gentleness (or meekness) means strength under control. Sadly, it is often mistaken for weakness. But both Moses and Jesus are described as gentle. We demonstrate meekness in our lives by learning, answering, restoring, correcting and living in meekness. (The last portion of this lesson is from Flesh and Spirit, by William Barclay.)
By examining God’s patience in the days of Noah, with man, with Paul, and in the parable of the Unmerciful Servant we find the keys to our patience. We must be patient in teaching, helping and forgiving.
Going into all the world is a big task. The instructions that God gave to Joshua are very similar to the instructions Jesus gave His disciples. We too must be strong and courageous if we are to conquer the land.
Why did Jesus give us gifts? The gitfs equip us for the work He intends us to do. They are for the work of ministry and the building up of the body. Three lessons are drawn from this passage: 1) We are fully equipped to serve one another; 2) Serving is work; and, 3) Growth happens when we serve.

The document provides an outline and notes for a sermon on speaking blessings to others based on James 3:1-12. It discusses how the tongue has power to direct like a bit or rudder, destroy like fire or a dangerous animal, and delight like a flowing fountain or fruitful tree. It encourages asking whether what you say is necessary, emancipates, energizes, and dignifies others based on their needs. Christians are called to bless those who curse them and speak words that affirm others.
Truth has power. We must be careful that we are sincere and truthful in our relationship with our brethren. We must speak the truth, not opinion; remember that we are brothers and not be selfish; our speech must be constructive not destructive; we must be gentle not harsh. There is a time to be silent and a time to speak.
Paul reminds us that the danger of remaining a spiritual child results in being spiritually unstable. This lesson reminds us that there are false teachers out there and that we must be wary of false teaching.

Acts 7:20-29: Moses sought to be with his brothers but they rejected him. And he was exiled. Cain refused to care for his brother, and he was alone. But it’s not good for man to be alone. Why do we slip into the thinking of Cain so easily and find ourselves alone? Being brothers is not easy, but let brotherly love continue.
Of all the metaphors for believers, the one most often used in the NT is “adelphos” (siblings, brothers and sisters). After Jesus’ ascension the company who gathered in the upper room consisted of both men and women, and Peter calls all of them brethren. In Acts 15, both Jewish believers and Gentile believers are called brethren.

The document discusses Jesus Christ's relationship to believers as their brother. It notes that Christ partook of flesh and blood to become like his brothers in every way so that he could be a merciful and faithful high priest to help those who are tempted. As the Son of God, Christ calls believers his brothers and sisters and shares in their humanity so that he can bring many sons and daughters to glory. The document encourages believers that as holy brothers and sisters of Christ, they share in his heavenly calling from God.

A375 Example Taste the taste of the Lord, the taste of the Lord The taste of...franktsao4
It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375
