1. What is EPR Registration?
EPR registration is done under CPCB (Central Pollution Control Board) for proper channelization of E-
Waste. The E- waste is meant to be collected, stored, dismantled and recycled in an eco-friendly manner.
EPR authorization is applicable to every manufacturer, producer, importer, consumer, bulk consumer,
dealers, e-retailer involved in manufacture, sale, transfer, storage and processing of e-waste or electrical
and electronic equipment listed in Schedule 1, including their components, consumables, parts and
spared which make the products operational as per Schedule 1 listed.
In this degrading environmental condition, management of E-waste is very necessary. People are only
focused towards their own business without analysing that whatever they are producing will lead to E-
waste someday which is unfavourable for our nature. In electronic products some kind of chemical is
present which is dangerous for human health and environment. People have to take the responsibility to
recycle at least a portion of what they are producing. So to make people aware and understand about the
concept of E-waste management EPR Registration is important.
Many Indian companies have adopted EPR authorization/registration to help managing the E- waste in
India. E- Waste scrap contains material which cannot be simply thrown away with regular electronic
items. They need to be properly disposed and recycled.
