Artificial turf is a synthetic surface that resembles natural grass. It was invented in 1960 by David Chaney and his research team at North Carolina University as an indoor alternative to natural grass for sports. Artificial turf is now commonly used for landscaping, backyards, and golf courses both commercially and residentially. It is made from polyethylene, polypropylene, or nylon fibers to simulate natural grass.
