A wiki is a website that allows collaborative editing of its content and structure by its users. The first wiki, WikiWikiWeb, was created in 1994 by Ward Cunningham as a way to easily share and edit information. Wikis use simplified HTML or markup syntax and allow anyone to edit pages and contribute or revert to previous versions. Wikipedia is the most well-known example of a wiki, beginning as an online encyclopedia that anyone can edit.
