John 4:46-54
46 So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee,
where he made the water wine. And there
was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick
at Capernaum. 47 When he heard that Jesus
was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went
unto him, and besought him that he would
come down, and heal his son: for he was at
the point of death.
John 4:46-54
48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see
signs and wonders, ye will not believe. 49 The
nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere
my child die.
John 4:46-54
50 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son
liveth. And the man believed the word that
Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his
way. 51 And as he was now going down, his
servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy
son liveth.
John 4:46-54
52 Then enquired he of them the hour when
he began to amend. And they said unto him,
Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left
him. 53 So the father knew that it was at the
same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him,
Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his
whole house.
John 4:46-54
54 This is again the second miracle that Jesus
did, when he was come out of Judaea into
Galilee.
WHAT ABOUT YOUR
FAITH
John 4:46-54
•Faith is complete trust or confidence in
something.
•Faith produces active obedience to God’s
word.
•Faith is a mental thought that leads a
person to act, to work, and to obey.
•Faith is complete trust and confidence in
God and in what He has done through
Jesus Christ
Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things
hoped for, the evidence of things not
seen.
Learning to live in an attitude of faith toward
God is the foundation stone of the Christian
life.
Faith is the only way the child of God can
experience intimate communion and
fellowship with God
2 Corinthians 5:7
For we walk by faith, not by sight.
Faith relies wholly upon the
character of God’s person and
the certainty of God’s
promises.
2 Tim. 2:3
Thou therefore endure hardness, as a
good soldier of Jesus Christ.
Faith in God will overcome
the greatest obstacles in
our lives.
I. Faith Is Believing and
Accepting God’s Word
John 4:46-47
John 4:46-47
So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee,
where he made the water wine. And there
was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick
at Capernaum.
47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of
Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and
besought him that he would come down, and
heal his son: for he was at the point of death.
It is so important when difficult and
trying times come that we take our
concerns to the right place, to the
right person.
Psalm 121:1-2
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills,
from whence cometh my help. 2 My
help cometh from the Lord, which
made heaven and earth.
II. Faith Is Steadfast
Even In Times of Trials
John 4:48-49
John 4:48-49
Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see
signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
49 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come
down ere my child die.
Steadfastness is absolutely necessary in
securing the Lord’s help.
Steadfastness shows that one really
recognizes and acknowledges his need
and really believes God can and will
help. Steadfast faith is not easily
offended.
Matthew 15:22-28
And, behold, a woman of Canaan came
out of the same coasts, and cried unto
him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord,
thou son of David; my daughter is
grievously vexed with a devil.
Matthew 15:22-28
23 But he answered her not a word. And
his disciples came and besought him,
saying, Send her away; for she crieth
after us. 24 But he answered and said, I
am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the
house of Israel.
Matthew 15:22-28
25 Then came she and worshipped him,
saying, Lord, help me. 26 But he
answered and said, It is not meet to take
the children's bread, and to cast it to
dogs.
Matthew 15:22-28
27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs
eat of the crumbs which fall from their
masters' table. 28 Then Jesus answered
and said unto her, O woman, great is thy
faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt.
And her daughter was made whole from
that very hour
Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please
him; for he that cometh to God must
believe that he is, and that he is a
rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
“A faith built only on
miraculous signs is not a
complete faith.”
Signs and wonders are not as important
as believing Jesus.
Faith in Jesus is absolutely necessary.
III. Faith is Trusting
and Obeying God’s
Word
John 4:50
John 4:50
Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son
liveth. And the man believed the word
that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he
went his way.
The man believed Jesus and
obeyed Him.
A trusting faith is an obedient
faith.
Luke 6:46
And why call ye me Lord, Lord, and
do not the things which I say?
Those who hear His words and act on
them are secured, like the man who
built his house upon a rock, and those
who hear His word and do not act on
them are destroyed, like the man who
built his house upon the sand that has a
shallow foundation.
IV. Faith Is Conforming
to the Word of God
John 4:51-53
John 4:51-53
And as he was now going down, his servants
met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.
52 Then enquired he of them the hour when
he began to amend. And they said unto him,
Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left
him.
John 4:51-53
53 So the father knew that it was at the same
hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy
son liveth: and himself believed, and his
whole house.
John 4:53-54
So the father knew that it was at the same
hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy
son liveth: and himself believed, and his
whole house. 54 This is again the second
miracle that Jesus did, when he was come
out of Judaea into Galilee.
