United States of America
The United States of America (USA), commonly known as the United States or America, is a country
consisting of 50 states, a federal district, five major self-governing territories, and various possessions.
At 3.8 million square miles (9.8 million km2), it is the world's third or fourth-largest country by total
area. Most of the country is located in central North America between Canada and Mexico. With an
estimated population of over 328 million, the U.S. is the third most populous country in the world. The
capital is Washington, D.C., and the most populous city is New York City.
Tourism in the United States
Tourism in the United States is a large industry that serves millions of international and domestic tourists
yearly. Foreigners visit the U.S. to see natural wonders, cities, historic landmarks, and entertainment
venues. Americans seek similar attractions, as well as recreation and vacation areas.
Tourism in the United States grew rapidly in the form of urban tourism during the late nineteenth and
early twentieth centuries. By the 1850s, tourism in the United States was well established both as a
cultural activity and as an industry. New York City, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C.,
and San Francisco, all major U.S. cities, attracted numerous tourists by the 1890s. By 1915, city touring
had marked significant shifts in the way Americans perceived, organized, and moved.
Western USA
The USA is a diverse country. In fact, I’d go as far as
saying it can be completely different depending on
which state you visit. Form places like Hawaii,
Washington and Florida – the expanse of places to
explore is totally mesmerizing.
West Coast, with some of the best places to see, it’s an
area of the USA that’s got everything you could think
of. The whole region is filled with glitzy cities,
stunning national parks and beautiful drives.
Western USA
Seattle, Washington
Seattle, a city on Puget Sound in the Pacific Northwest, is surrounded by water, mountains and evergreen
forests, and contains thousands of acres of parkland. Washington State’s largest city, it’s home to a large
tech industry, with Microsoft and Amazon headquartered in its metropolitan area. The futuristic Space
Needle, a 1962 World’s Fair legacy, is its most iconic landmark.
Some of the attractions are:
1. Space Needle - Built for the 1962 World’s Fair, the 605-foot-tall Space Needle quickly became an
icon of the city that today is recognized far and wide.
2. Seattle Center Monorail - Another World’s Fair relic, the Seattle Center Monorail links Seattle
Center—home of the Space Needle and several other notable attractions—to downtown’s Westlake
Center along an approximately one-mile route.
