Western Global supplies a range
of packaged solutions designed
specifically for mine and pit refuelling
including self contained tanks
(bunded or double wall) with optional
dispensing, metering and fuel
management. Filtration can also be
integrated into the dispensing package.
Dispensing options include powered, or
stand-alone packages where no power
is available; as well as a combination
of low and high flow nozzles for
refuelling a range of mine vehicles and
equipment including heavy vehicles.
Pumping packages are customized to
suit the requirements of our customers
with a complete range of options
available; all tested prior to dispatch
to site where it is simply connected to
power where required.
Stand-alone products are simply filled
for refuelling once vents and alarms
are fitted.

Portable energy includes air, power,
water and light and the portable
equipment used to produce or
control these elements. Industries
that make use of portable energy are
power generation, oil & gas, mining,
construction, as well as events and

Western Global manufactures a
comprehensive range of long-range
fuel tanks for the portable energy
market. These tanks are purpose built
and designed specifically for fueling
portable energy equipment such as

fuel distributors for over ten years;
complete with packaged dispensing,
fuel management and payment

All the pumping and fuel management
equipment can be located in a lockable
and secure pump bay; with only the
authorization panel accessible from the
outside of the tank.
Self contained tanks eliminate the need
for complex containment and provide a
cost effective solution; all relocatable if
refuelling needs change.

We offer a range of fuel storage and

When it comes to dispensing; there are
a number of options available ... from
budget packages through to packages
with multiple dispensing points.
Dispensing points can be positioned at
either end of the tank ... or away from
the tank to aid flow of vehicles and
equipment to refuelling points.
Bowsers and fuel management can
also be located on a floating pontoon
for marine refuelling.

SELF CONTAINED TANKS

A major feature of the self contained
tank is the “tank within a tank”
design; creating an interstitial space
that alleviates the need for external
containment.
If the inner, primary, tank were to leak
due to damage; the fluid would be
contained within the outer, secondary,
tank.
Built from steel; our tanks meet
regulatory containment requirements.
The interstitial area can be dipped for
fluid using the interstitial dip. This is
located on top of the tank along with
the primary tank dip.
Also located on top of the tank is the
interstitial emergency vent; designed to
prevent the tank from becoming over
pressurized.
Located inside the tank is a float valve
that closes as the tank reaches its safe
fill level.
All fluid contained within the tank
flows to the front of the tank due to the
internal sloping floor. This allows for
water removal via a water extraction
point.
A free to air vent is located on top of
the tank, as well as an access man-
way, spare sockets, audible overfill
scamp alarm, and water extraction
point located near the emergency vent.
On models with a pump bay and
inspection platform; the top of the tank
can be accessed via the ladder. This
can be fitted to either side of the tank.
We supply a range of dispensing
equipment that can be fitted to
pump bay models prior to shipping
to site. Filtration, metering and fuel
management can also be integrated.
The container style, pump bay doors,
are tough and lockable. Other options
include hose masts and load out arms
for ease of filling heavy equipment.
When it comes to installation, all that is
needed is a hard flat surface, minimal
concrete footing or skid; with optional
tie-downs available to secure the tank.
Their design also means tanks are easy
to transport or relocate using a side
loader; with corner container castings
integrated for lifting, loading and
securing.

The self contained P Series is a premium fuel storage
solution designed for harsh operating environments with
minimal site preparation. Pressed corners and a reinforced
top means a robust tank for your fuel storage needs.
Built to the size of standard ISO shipping containers; the
P Series has a greater safe fill capacity compared to other
models of the same footprint.

An innovation from Western Global is
our TRANSTANK, completely modular,
fuel farm in a standardized format.
With increased focus on health and
safety on-site; as well as the ever rising
costs of transportation ... this concept
saves both money and lowers risk
during installation.
On arrival at site the components
simply bolt together with minimal
resources; providing a cost effective
bulk fuel facility.
The idea behind this is a whole fuel
farm can be installed quickly, with
minimal time and resources used on-
site during install.
Another benefit is the entire bulk
facility can all be relocated if refuelling
needs change.
The modular fuel farm shown
left was built at a Western Global
manufacturing facility before being
transported to Samarinda, East
Kalimantan, Indonesia.
This is a major advantage of
Western’s TRANSTANK equipment;
manufacturing all components in
modular form at a manufacturing
facility before transportation to site
means less time on-site to install.
Less time installing also means
reduced safety risk for employees and
contractors during construction.
We have been instrumental in installing
small to large refuelling facilities across
the globe for a number of years.
Whilst transporting our products
to remote areas often provides a
challenge, the containerized tank
design makes transportation to remote
areas possible. TRANSTANK units can
be transported via ship, road or rail and
barge to isolated sites.

Our low profile tank range has been in
production for over 10 years and has
withstood the test of time; it’s proven
itself as a reliable fuel storage.
No additional on site bunding or berm
is required. Simply locate the unit
outdoors on a level, compacted surface
with adequate bollards to protect the
tank from possible vehicle collision,

Our pit servicing modules can dispense

Previously mine sites tended to store
all fuel in one central location with
plant and equipment traveling back
and forward from where they were in
operation. This was neither productive
or efficient with valuable time and fuel
being wasted.
We pioneered the concept of locating
self contained fuel storage tanks close
to the equipment; and making that
storage easy and cost effective to
relocate as the mining moves around
the lease.
We have now taken this concept one
step further by developing a complete
refuelling and “top up” service

A major feature is the under floor
containment area for the containment

Diesel engines equipped with high

injection systems demand superior fuel
quality and cleanliness that is critical to
the reliability of these highly advanced
fuel injection systems.
Water and contaminants have a
direct impact on the service life and
performance of diesel engines.
Fuel contaminants have many
sources. Contaminants in diesel fuel
are typically introduced in fuel storage
systems through mixing, transferring,
and storage.
Unfortunately, there is no way to
prevent water from contaminating
fuel as condensation is constantly
forming inside fuel tanks. Abrasive
foreign matter is also being introduced
constantly through handling, storage
and transportation of fuel.
Clean, uncontaminated fuel is key to
maximum fuel system performance
and longevity for modern diesel
engines. Without high quality fuel
filtration and regularly scheduled
service and maintenance on tanks …
fuel contamination can lead to costly
repairs and engine downtime.
Regardless of the high-quality
condition of diesel fuel when it is
delivered, any fuel that sits in storage
can become contaminated over time.
Typical contaminants found in
storage tanks include moisture from
condensation, dirt and dust from the
environment, microorganisms that
may have developed in the presence
of water in the bottom of a tank, and
oxidized hydrocarbons which naturally
occur over time.
Our fuel storage tanks are designed
with the tank suction pipe positioned
to draw product from close, but not the
bottom of the tank.
This leaves a quantity of
“unpumpable” product in the bottom
to prevent sediment and water from
being discharged when dispensing.
Our units are constructed with a
purpose built water catchment sump
located at the front of the tank. The
floor of the tank is sloped towards the
front of the unit, creating a low point
to collect water. As fuel and lubricants
are lighter than water they will
automatically sit on top of any water in
the tank.
This allows for monitoring and removal
of water to prevent fuel contamination
in your engine fuel tank.
Western Global can supply tanks fitted
with a purpose built filtration system
designed to keep fuel clean and free
from harmful contaminants.
Western Global also uses optional dust
and desiccant breathers fitted to vents
that remove moisture and airborne
debris from the air drawn into the tank
as product is removed.

We have designed a skid module
to compliment our inter-modal ISO
container tank design.
The TRANSTANK tank unit drops
onto the skid module, locking onto the
module using the container twist locks
incorporated into the tank design.
By developing the skid module as a
separate piece of equipment from the
tank unit, most of the stresses placed
on the equipment when towing on site
are taken up by the skid. The tank is
therefore afforded some protection
from possible damage during site
towing.
Various sizes are available to suit your
self contained tank; custom skids are
also available to house tanks and other
equipment.

lines and spill kits that can be added
to ensure the safety of your employees,
contractors and third parties.
As part of our service, Western Global

assessment that should be undertaken

Diesel fuel (C1 Combustible Liquid – a
liquid that burns but is more difficult
to ignite than a flammable liquid) can
be a potentially dangerous hazard.
As a combustible liquid, diesel is a
liquid that has the potential to ignite or
combust.
Petrol (Class 3 Flammable Liquid – is
easily ignited and readily combustible)
is a highly flammable liquid that can
give off flammable vapor, even at very
low temperatures. This means there
is always a risk of fire or explosion if a
source of ignition is present.
Excessive exposure to both diesel and
petrol vapor can be harmful as it can
cause health problems if it comes into

Our self contained tanks come with an audible alarm that
sounds as the tank reaches its safe fill level. This must be
installed prior to tank use.
The fill point is fitted with a back check valve to prevent theft
and spillage from the tank fill point. Liquid will only flow one
way; into the tank.
Our self contained tanks come with a float valve positioned
inside the tank. This closes the fill pipe as the tank reaches
its safe fill level to prevent overfilling.
The fill pipe has a spring check valve fitted to prevent
the tank from siphoning should the back check valve be
removed or damaged.

Mark Van Wyk from our South African
office has been working on a design
for a “Petro-Spaza™” or Petro-Plaza;
the equivalent to a Fuel, Service or Gas
Station.
The design is unique and features two
TRANSTANK self contained tanks as
the main frame to the structure.
This provides security; as well as
a quick and easy way to implement
infrastructure.
This is what makes Mark’s innovation
so great; it provides security for the
owner and operator without expensive
infrastructure.
The structure is made completely of
steel and is completely lockable and
secure.

Mark has turned an idea into a ground-

Whilst the concept isn’t suitable
for all locations due to fuel storage
regulations; it is ideal for storing bulk
diesel in areas where infrastructure
needs to be easy to install, secure and
relocatable.
