Week 4
Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday
Theme: English- Spelling list 1 Theme: Science- How to charge other
materials. (Static electricity)
Theme: Science – opposite
charges.
Theme: Science- Electrostatic
electricity
Learning outcome:
Able to recognize the VCV
and VCCV words.
Warm up:
Competition between the four
groups. The teacher gives each
group a word to spell and they come
and write it on the board.
Ask students, what are the words
made of? (Letters) tell them we have
two types of letters ask them what
they are. Ask them to identify the
vowels and consonants in each
word. Explain for the students how
we find the VCV and VCCV words.
Main class activity:
Each group will have 4 words and
they will identify if the words are
VCCV or VCV.
Words are:
Dentist, final, finish. Narrow, shelter,
ahead, corner, hollow, divide,
famous, recent, silver, capture,
cabin, dinner”
High ability:
They will have extra words “Decent,
Learning outcome:
Able to explain the experiment
conclusion and the cause of static
electricity.
Warm up:
Revise with the students the meaning of
electricity what is made of? What does the
atom include? What are the charges of
proton, electron and neutrons?
Introduce the experiment to the students.
Give the children the instruction and ask
them to predict what will happen. Children
will write their prediction and then
investigate.
Main class activity:
Procedure:
1- Spread several pieces of puffed
rice cereal on the table.
2- Rub the comb with a paper. The
grab the comb and bring near the
cereal and observe what happens.
3- Rub a wool cloth several times.
Bring it near the cereal. What do
you observe?
Write down your observation.
Students will come and explain their
Learning outcome:
Experience how charged
particles interact with
each other.
Warm up:
Recap with the students about
what they learnt earlier (atoms,
protons, electrons, neutrons,
charges, positive, negative).
Build on the knowledge. Ask the
students what is the role of
neutrons in the nucleus?
Ask two students to come and
hold two circles (pretend that
they are protons) ask them what
will happen? (They will repel).
Keep changing with the electrons
and protons.
Main class activity:
Instruction:
Blow up 2 balloons. One
is held from the neck by
the other partner.
Rub the balloon with a
wool cloth and put it near
the other balloon.
Observe what will
happen.
Learning outcome:
Able to differentiate
between static
electricity and
electrostatic discharge.
Warm up:
Revise with the students what
happened with the balloons
when they rubbed them on
different materials. Ask students
the meaning of static electricity
and tell them what they can find
in the atoms.
Introduce for them electrostatic
(Electrons move from the
negatively charged objects to
negatively or positively object).
Main class activity:
Read the science fusion book
page 488 and 489. Ask them to
summarize and tell how does
lightning happen?
Ask them to draw the procedure
of lightning.

secure, frontier, stampede” experiments and what happened.
Expected results:
Comb rubbed with paper will have no
reaction.
Comb rubbed with wool cloth will attract
the cereal.
Students will learn that the electrons have
moved from the wool cloth to the comb
therefore it helped it attract the cereal.
Rub the balloon with
other materials (papers,
plastic, and wall) and
then put it near the other
balloon. Observe what
happens.
Record all your
information on page 497
Fusion book.
Get back to the question “What is
the role of the neutrons in the
nucleus?” get children to think if
all the protons were beside each
other what will happen?

Learning outcome:
Identify the relationship
between the cause and
effect.
Warm up:
Ask students what’s the meaning
of cause and effect. Let them
give some examples that
happened to them. Introduce for
the children how to find cause
and effect in a story or
paragraph.
Main class activity:
Students will work independently
on English practiced book page

Lower ability students will be
scaffolded.
Learning outcome:
Identify the cause and
effect in the story.
Warm up:
Remind the children with the
cause and effect and give them
some examples.
Main class activity:
Read the story silently.
Discuss the new
vocabulary in the story.
Ask some questions

Daily reflection
Today is the first day after the holiday. I
decided to do something simple to start
with. I did a spelling list with them to
introduce for them that we have CV and
VCCV words. It was easy for some
students; however, some of them
struggled. I tried to re-explain it which
made it easier for them.
The things that went well are that they
solved a puzzle by their selves and
copied some words in the copy book and
labeled them if they are VCV or VCCV
words.
I believe that I need to use more
challenging words for high ability
students because they were able to do it
all by their own.
Conducted an experiment with the
children to explain and show them
how electrons travel from body to
another. It was an interactive lesson
where children enjoyed investigating
and recording their observations.
I think the lesson went quite well
because I saw the results in students
understanding of charges and how do
they move from object to another.
I have large groups which are built
from 8 students each so it’s kind of
difficult to have them all participate.
Next time I can make a pair work to
let all students participate.
I did two lessons today science
and English. In the science, I’ve
done and experiment which was
pair work. The students had
balloons to rub them on different
object and then bring them near
to each other to see if they are
attracted or repel. Students
worked collaboratively as they
were doing the experiment.
There was a bit of a noise that
would have caused some
distractions to other students but
I tried my best to avoid it.
In the English lesson, introduced
cause and effect and going to
continue learning about the next
week.
Science lesson didn’t include
and experiment, but they had to
recall what happened in the
previous lessons with the
balloons and the combs. This
will help them know how things
work. Moreover, they can
investigate what is an
electrostatic discharge and how
it happens.
I asked them to read about the
lightning and how it happens.
They did incredibly great and
they were able to draw it and
explain it.
In the English, we read a story
and introduced the new
vocabulary. They were able to
identify the cause and effect
and give examples.
