Letter from the Editor
The magazine has a new look that we hope you will like. Over the next year, we will continue
to evolve style and content as we get to know what you, our readers, want from The Long Top Ten
Haul.
So, what is new with this issue?
We have a three-part article on Michael Harggett, a Salem, Oregon inventor. Michael
wants to take his B.A.R.P. (Battery Alternating Recharging Process) and create a Prairie Fire
of fuel efficiency in every motor in the country. We will be following Michael over the next
year and watching how a classic garage inventor’s persistence, and belief in himself and the
good of community, can keep a person dedicated, against all odds.
Dan Hanson touches on reoccurring themes I have heard recently: self-governance
and his belief that a little self-discipline can go a long way to independence.
