Urban Crops is een jonge Belgische start-up die door middel van technologische vernieuwing in de landbouw de nakende voedselproblematiek in de wereld wil aanpakken. In 2050 zal onze aarde 9.8 miljard mensen huizen, waarvan 70% in steden zal leven.
This document describes the process of designing a magazine cover for a rock music magazine. It discusses choosing dark and cautionary colors for the background to portray danger and rock music. Text and images are added, including the masthead title "MoshPit", logo, band photos, and advertisements. Cover lines and social media links are included to attract readers and advertise the magazine brand online. The final design brightens the band photo and tweaks colors to highlight the main focus, while adding logos to advertise related music and partnerships.

Towards a collaborative approach to integrated solutions
Abstract:
A short overview of 90 years of history of Design in Royal Philips, explaining the changing role of Design in a big corporate company. Next I would like to focus on the role Design plays in innovation and strategy, explain our current way of working, some of the tools we use and the competences we need to develop in our design community. All explained using pictures from current innovation projects. I want to conclude with a video which explains the added value of Design in renewing an Emergency Department at the Florida Hospital.
We Are Here
Designer as Map Maker
Abstract:
Humans have always made maps; to tell us where we are, to show us how to get somewhere we want to go, to understand the bigger context. More and more, designers are creating maps for these reasons, and others. We make maps to draw insight, catalyze ideas, to get on the same page, and as tools for understanding complex experiences and processes. We make customer journey maps, empathy maps, mental models, experience maps and strategy roadmaps. What’s next for these tools? How will they evolve? What cartography capabilities do we need to develop as practitioners? What makes a map useful? Let’s talk about maps, baby!
Innovation:
As we look to the future of designers responding to increasingly wicked and messy problems. Service designers are at the forefront of this. We need to understand the evolution of design tools in context and the reasons for the changes. Why so many maps in service design? It matters because it helps to take a step back and survey where we have come from and where we are going in terms of the methods we use and how we as designers respond to change. Maps are a pure form of sensemaking. This is in our past and is undoubtedly in our future as a discipline. My research takes a detailed look at design maps and their evolution.

This document provides information about the 25th Silver Edition of Biennale INTERIEUR 2016, an interior design biennial exhibition that will take place from October 14-23, 2016 in Kortrijk, Belgium. It highlights some of the featured designers and installations at the event, including exhibitions from Johnston MarkLee and Jonathan Olivares, Studiolo, and Philippe Rahm. Awards will be given in the Objects and Spaces categories, and there will be programming throughout the city at locations like the Texture Museum.
The document describes the Nimble Bee Design Competition, which accelerates innovation through open collaboration. The competition connects companies seeking design solutions with a global network of universities. Students develop design concepts over 3 months, receiving feedback from the client and lead consumers. The top 10 designs are selected, with the winning design chosen after validation. Benefits include 50 developed designs per challenge for companies, mentorship and experience for students, and showcasing university talent. Statistics show positive results across 4 competitions with hundreds of student participants from 18 universities.
This document discusses various artists, projects, and quotes related to issues of pollution, commercialization, worldwide perspectives, transport, landscapes/infrastructure, food/energy, and climate change as they relate to water. Some highlights include Chris Jordan's work on plastic pollution in the oceans, Nestle's view of water as a commodity, The Drinkable Book which aims to provide accessible drinking water, and Edward Burtynsky's body of work documenting human impacts on water systems and landscapes.
The document discusses how Aptus helps connect the physical world to the digital world through the Internet of Things. It notes that 99.4% of physical objects are currently not connected. Aptus builds end-to-end IoT solutions using technologies like LPWAN, sensors, and mobile apps to connect devices and gather data. Examples of solutions include smart waste management, parking, and environmental monitoring for smart cities. Aptus has the expertise to design customized connected solutions for clients.
The document discusses how the future will be characterized by volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity (VUCA). It states that old business models are dying and companies need to focus on agility, fast action, and creative thinking. It also mentions that combining data science and predictive possibilities can lead to success. The document promotes a performance marketing platform called Earnieland that aims to maximize purchases, generate traffic, and create brand awareness for shops through different advertising channels like banners, newsletters, search engine optimization, social media, and dedicated emails.
This document summarizes the mission and goals of an organization called M2M that aims to fuse human and digital approaches in healthcare. Their mission is to digitize processes in healthcare to enable more proactive and personalized care. Their goals are to create disruptive ICT solutions like e-consulting, decision trees, and value-based medicine, potentially using IoT devices. Their business model involves creating algorithms and devices, selling applications to healthcare institutions, and trading patient data. So far they have conceptualized solutions, analyzed needs, and partnered with other organizations. Future plans include pilots and operational expansion in Belgium and other countries. They issue a call for partners and ideas to help develop an e-incubator in the region
