W2HTS moves into Oakland University’s Clean
Energy Research Center (CERC) in
Rochester, Michigan
ROCHESTER, MICH. – Waste Water Heat Transfer Systems, LLC, dba ‘W2HTS’
a manufacturing firm that specializes in the production and development of heat
exchange products for commercial, institutional and industrial use, has moved
into the Oakland University Clean Energy Research Center (CERC).
The business commercialization services that the Oakland University Incubator
has provided for W2HTS has been and will continue to be influential in the
development and emergence of the firm in the marketplace. It will allow the
company to expand to further develop and produce a variety of hot liquid heat
exchangers.
Clean Energy Research Center
The Oakland University School of Engineering and Computer Science is home
to the CERC, which is located at the OU SmartZone Business Incubator (OU
INC). The CERC will showcase multiple, clean energy research, development,
and educational activities. It will create an environment that will foster commercial
partnerships, provide an educational platform for student research and clean
energy curricula development, as well as provide an entrepreneurial atmosphere
within the OU R&D community to allow technology transfer and
commercialization of new technologies.
2. Our goal is to provide our students, faculty, and partner companies the best
educational and entrepreneurial environment. The CERC will continue to be
actively involved in outreach and economic development initiatives. The
OU INC will provide entrepreneurial resources and strategic business solutions to
existing and startup clean energy technology companies with decision support for
technology, business counseling services and capital acquisition assistance.

We are a Michigan Domicile Limited Liability Company that designs,
manufactures, and commercializes renewable energy savings devices for
commercial, institutional, and industrial use.
Douglas Guldan, President and CEO stated, “in line with our goal of creating
products that maximize energy efficiency and reduce energy costs, W2HTS
developed a product called HeatWave. Using our state-of-the-art design, we
have developed a way to safely capture and reuse the heat from various existing
hot liquid sources in a facility and transfer that heat to fresh water. By feeding the
boiler with pre-heated fresh water your company will reduce energy consumption,
thereby reducing energy costs. HeatWave reduces energy consumption by 60%,
and develops a 12 to 24 month return on investment.”
What makes HeatWave different?
Guldan commented, “though heat exchangers have existed for many years,
HeatWave takes safety one-step further by eliminating any risk of cross
contamination. By adding an additional layer of protection that no other company
can deliver, we can ensure that you'll have clean, ready-to-use water at all times.
We have accomplished this by surpassing the national plumbing standard, which
requires a double walled vent-to-atmosphere design.” By enclosing a copper
pipe with a patent-pending aluminum extrusion that efficiently conducts thermal
energy into an all-copper fresh water system, HeatWave has a triple wall design
that makes it the safest fresh water heat exchanger in the industry.
HeatWave was developed using standard plumbing parts and materials, allowing
for easy reconfiguration and flexible installation. HeatWave is designed to
maximize heat transfer operating at 225 gallons of fresh water per hour. At this
rate, it can process up to 1.7 million gallons of water annually. To handle larger
volumes of water, additional units can be easily attached in a series matching
your facility’s needs. For more information please visit our web site at
