Con el fin de generar un espacio de análisis y reflexión académica y científica sobre el estado sanitario de los pueblos fumigados, y de escuchar y contener a los miembros de los equipos de salud que vienen denunciando y enfrentando este problema, la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas de la UNC, a través de dos de sus cátedras (Medicina I y Pediatría), convocó a este 1º Encuentro.
La Universidad Pública tiene la obligación de estudiar científicamente las condiciones de vida y trabajo junto a los problemas sanitarios, sociales, económicos y culturales que se le presenten a la población de nuestro país, que por otra parte, sustenta con sus impuestos el financiamiento de la misma. Con ese objetivo se convocó en forma amplia a los médicos y demás miembros de equipos de salud y a investigadores de diferentes disciplinas a nivel nacional, a presentar sus experiencias, datos, propuestas y trabajos científicos.
Se llevó a cabo los días 27 y 28 de Agosto del corriente año en la Ciudad Universitaria de la UNC con la presencia de más de 160 participantes de las provincias de Córdoba, Santa Fé, Buenos Aires, Neuquén, Santiago del Estero, Salta, Chaco, Entre Ríos, Misiones y Catamarca; como así también de seis universidades nacionales.
El Comité organizador estaba conformado por: Dr Medardo Ávila Vázquez, Coordinador del Modulo Determinantes Sociales de la Salud, FCM-UNC.; Dr. Ariel Depetris, Epidemiólogo; Dr Gustavo Calzolari, Medico Comisión asesora de Bell Ville - Cba; Dr. Fernando Suarez, Médico Generalista de UPAS Nuestro Hogar III; Dra.
