This document discusses how virtualization technologies allow running older operating systems like Windows 3.1 and Windows XP atop newer host operating systems like Windows Vista and Windows 7. It introduces Microsoft Virtual PC as a way to host multiple guest operating systems on a single host system without dual booting. Activities in the guest OS are isolated and do not impact the host OS. Virtualization eliminates incompatibilities between newer and older operating systems.
