Editor's Notes
Microsoft 365 Enterprise includes Office 365, Windows 10 Enterprise, Enterprise Mobility + Security, representing a complete, intelligent solution to empower everyone in your organization to be creative and work together, securely.
Through Microsoft 365 we’re reinforcing our commitment to help you on your digital transformation journey.
The time has come to envision and embrace a new culture of work. Most companies have been increasing their workplace investments in recent years, and even more (point to first statistic) plan to increase spending in the near future. Companies are recognizing that workplace modernization drives high-level strategic priorities such as improving customer experience, revenues, data-driven decision making, and innovation.
Modern workplace strategies, technologies, and processes are no longer simply “nice to have in the digital environment,” says Kristine Dery, a research scientist at MIT’s Center for Information Systems Research; whose own research found that companies creating better employee experiences increased their levels of innovation in terms of new products and services introduced, delivered better customer experiences, and were significantly more profitable.
“Modern workplace leaders have quickly identified that it is their people who enable them to create and innovate,” says Dr. Mary Donohue, a social scientist. “If you focus on them, you have less turnover, which leads to greater problem solving, which leads to revenue growth and a much more competitive position. It’s imperative that companies spend more time on human capital and give their people the tools to work and communicate better, faster, and stronger.” Those companies that successfully transform their enterprise for the digital business future will embrace this new culture of work. Most business leaders (point to second statistic) say that it is very important that technology empowers employee creativity and innovation.
As companies embrace more dynamic forms of teamwork and open information sharing, it becomes even more important for organizations to protect company assets and sensitive customer data. The cost of breaches is huge (point to third statistic.) Companies can no longer rely on the traditional model of just securing the organizations’ perimeters. Sustaining this new culture requires a new way to secure and protect. Security needs to be rooted in identity, and also be more comprehensive and sophisticated, identifying breaches quickly and stopping them before they spread.

Microsoft 365 focuses on four key areas.
Creativity and teamwork, are about unlocking the potential of every individual, to drive innovation in the organization.
And we are focused on creating the lowest TCO environment by integrating for simplicity, and having intelligent security, built-in.
Making Microsoft 365 available to all employees in an organization can help create more productive, inclusive and compliant workplaces.
Windows 10 and Office 365 applications on every platform are inclusively designed and enhanced on an ongoing basis based on feedback from people with disabilities. Enhancements per access need can be viewed on https://www.Microsoft.com/accessibility. The goal of these is to enable employees with disabilities to be productive with main-stream tools, on the devices of their choice.
Additionally, Office 365 has built-in capabilities that all employees can leverage to be more inclusive in their communications. For example, employees who create official documents can run “Accessibility Checker” within Office for PCs, Office for Mac and Office Online applications to easily identify and fix accessibility gaps in their content. Visit https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/blog/2018/05/16/reimagine-accessibility-and-foster-inclusion-in-the-modern-workplace/ to learn more.
As Microsoft is building in more accessibility support into Microsoft 365, not only to aid people with disabilities who use Microsoft 365 but also to aid everyone in creating accessible content, organizations the previously purchased add-ons from 3rd parties for these purposes will find a reduced need to invest in these. For example, site administrators who create new intranet sites can easily make these accessible by using SharePoint’s first-party web parts such as document libraries that were designed to conform to international website standards known as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (“WCAG”). Also, Microsoft provides specialist support services via the Enterprise Disability Answer Desk. Enterprise customers can get help with accessibility questions, issues with Assistive Technology, or product conformance questions related to Section 508, WCAG 2.0, or EN 301 549 regulations. Visit http://aka.ms/eDAD to learn more.
Formal tests are conducted to assess the level to which Office 365 applications on various platforms meet the requirements of US Section 508, WCAG 2.0 AA, and EN 301 549. Our commitment to develop products and services that help provide an accessible user experience for a broad range of users starts with the Microsoft Accessibility Standard (MAS), which guides product development and testing for all business operations across Microsoft. MAS incorporates the new EN 301 549 standard along with other common global accessibility standards, including ISO/IEC 40500 (WCAG 2.0) and US Section 508 standards. Visit https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/accessibility/2017/02/20/supporting-enterprise-and-government-customers-with-accessibility-standards-conformance-testing-for-microsoft-products/ to learn more and review our conformance documents at aka.ms/EN301549, aka.ms/508VPATs and aka.ms/WCAG2.0.
Microsoft 365 provides holistic security across these four aspects of security.
By helping enterprise businesses secure corporate data and manage risk in today’s mobile-first, cloud-first world Microsoft 365 enables customers to digitally transform by unifying user productivity and enterprise security tools into a single suite that enables the modern workplace.
