STOP THE PRIVATISATION OF ENERGY

GSEE condemns the forced civil conscription of electricity workers who are on
strike against the privatisation of the Public Power Corporation (DEI) following a
court order that deemed their strike action illegal.
GSEE declares its wholehearted support to the rightful struggle of DEI workers
against the privatisation of energy. This is the common fight of all workers to defend
a public good and overrule harmful government plans to sell-out public property.
We denounce the appalling authoritarian practice of conscription to stop
rightful industrial action that cancels the right to strike and imposes a forced labour
regime in Greece trampling the Constitution and International Labour conventions.
GSEE categorically rejects Government invocations of “public interest”: public
interest is not served by selling out national wealth while heaping cuts, taxes and
levies on the people through memoranda policies that have manifestly led to poverty
and devastation.
GSEE calls on the government to immediately revoke the undemocratic anti-
labour conscription of energy workers. We demand respect for labour rights and an
immediate end to the downhill authoritarian course of the government that under
the Troika regime abuses the economy, the people and the institutions.
