This document provides a literature review and analysis of transnational queer tourism through an intersectional feminist and post-colonial lens. It discusses how queer tourism promotes neocolonial tendencies by positioning a specific idealized queer consumer and constructing "gay-friendly" destinations. Three key points are made:
1) Queer travel guides portray an idealized queer consumer as white, male, middle-class/educated in order to market to this demographic, erasing other identities.
2) Destinations are crafted as "gay-friendly" by highlighting established queer communities, pride events, and LGBT rights, but this overlooks inequalities and can commodify queer identities.
