US ARMY CREED

                                       I am an American Soldier.
I am a Warrior and a member of a team.
I serve the people of the United States, and live the Army Values.
I will always place the mission first.
                                          I will never accept defeat.
                                               I will never quit.
I will never leave a fallen comrade.
I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and proficient in my warrior tasks and
                                                     drills.
I always maintain my arms, my equipment and myself.
I am an expert and I am a professional.
I stand ready to deploy, engage, and destroy, the enemies of the United States of America in close
                                                   combat.
I am a guardian of freedom and the American way of life.
                                       I am an American Soldier.
WHAT THE CREED IS ABOUT

The U.S. Soldier's Creed is a standard that all United States Army personnel
are encouraged to live by. All U.S. Army enlisted personnel are taught the
Soldier's Creed during basic training, and recite the creed in public ceremonies
at the conclusion of training. Both The Soldier's Creed and the
Noncommissioned officer's creed is required knowledge at enlisted promotion
boards to compete for the rank of Sergeant and above, as well as Soldier of
the Month boards. It is also common practice to recite the Soldier's Creed at
the graduation ceremony from Army ROTC. Unlike the United States
Uniformed Services Oath of Office or the Oath of enlistment, the Soldier's
Creed can be affirmed by both Army officers and Soldiers.
EMOTIONAL RESPONSE

The soldier truly wants to serve his county and do what he is trained to, while
                          keeping his comrades safe.
CHARACTERS

When I get out of school, I will attempt to join the military and say this creed,
by the time I am not, I will know it by heart.

The Character of this story is the soldier that is saying this creed, offering his
heart and soul to his nation.
POINT OF VIEW

This Creed is from the point of view of a soldier in the army.

“I am an American Soldier.” It states that in the creed.

To the character by saying this creed is he preparing to not only protect his
country, but to aid comrades in distress.
CULTURAL CHARACTERISTICS

The culture of an American soldier is a culture of honor, they defend their
country, sometimes even by giving the ultimate sacrifice, their life.

The entire Creed is an example of a soldier's culture, and what he’ll do to
                          protect his country.

It relates to me because I want to be a soldier after I get out of school.
COMPARE AND CONTRAST

This compared to the book “SOLDIERS”.
                         Both characters are soldiers.

Soldiers is about a soldier from WWII, this relates to the creed by being about
soldiers and how they feel. In soldiers, the main character also saves a german,
but the german’s comrades shoot and kill him. The Creed only says to save
                        your comrades, not the enemies.
