Jared died of stomach cancer which he was at high risk for due to his family history. His risk was further increased by his low consumption of fruits and vegetables. Though he experienced indigestion for weeks, Jared only sought medical help when vomiting and rapid weight loss occurred. Had Jared addressed his genetic and dietary risks earlier through increased fiber intake, testing, or lifestyle changes, he may have survived to see his son be born.
