4. Compound Complex Sentence
A compound-complex sentence is a sentence that has at least two independent clauses and at least one dependent clause.
The same subordinating conjunctions are used to introduce the dependent clauses.
The same coordinating conjunctions (FANBOYS) are used for joining the independent clauses.
Example: The package arrived in the afternoon, but the courier left before I could check the contents.

I don’t understand! What is going on? I don’t
know those kids in the pictures with me.Why
do we look like we are best friends? There are
pictures of me on holidays to places I had never
been to! Who is this boy in all the photos? Why
does he look just like me? Why does pops say
the boy’s name is Dominic? I am Dominic. I
need these questions answered, and since
everyone is refusing to explain to me what is
going on; I must find out for myself. I know, I
will head to Cambridge, the university it says
online that he attended. Is he my brother?

I can’t believe it, I just met Zita, my mom’s
former student on the train to
Cambridge.Turns out she goes there now, she
has really been a big help! She explained all
about how to find out which college he went to
using the colors of his scarf.Going to the
souvenir shop was a great idea, I was able to
figure out what colors his scarf is. Now I am
one step closer to figuring out this big
mystery!

I spent the night at Zita’s house and
I was finally able to think. I feel like
everyone wants me to be like my
brother. Exactly like him. The more I
learn about him, the more I realize
that my dad is trying to force me to
follow in my brother’s footsteps. But
why? Why can’t I just be me?
5. Entry 4
I was eventually able to see Dr. Nickalls, turns
out he was my brother’s best friend. He
explained to me all about my brother’s death
and what happened to him. Giles took me to
meet Becky, they are married but she used to be
my brother’s girlfriend before he died. We had a
picnic, were they told me all about my brother. I
learned so much about him, he seems so similar
to me yet so different. The picnic was going
perfect, that is until Becky ran away. Giles,
explained to me that it was because of my birth
mark.It was the exact same one my brother had!
6. Entry 5
While waiting for the train to return home, I
spotted my father. Thinking on instinct I left
the station. I met Professor Holt, one of my
brother’s former teachers. She offered to give me
a ride; turns out she is actually one of the most
famous scientists in the world! She took me to
the building, in which she worked. She told me
more about my brother and explained how
smart he was. She seems nice, though I can’t
shake the feeling that there is something
strange about her.I feel like I know her even
though i have never met her before today.
