The ocean depths are home to many strange and unique creatures that have adapted to the extreme pressures and lack of light. Bioluminescent organisms that produce their own light are common, as vision is limited in the deep sea darkness. Some deep sea fish have transparent heads or anglerfish that dangle bioluminescent lures to attract prey in the inky black environment over a mile below the surface.
