An inhabitant of Derinkuyu, Turkey discovered a mysterious room behind a wall in his house, which led to the discovery of an extensive underground city used for shelter. Archaeologists have uncovered 20 levels extending over 80 meters deep, with space for at least 10,000 people. The city included features like stone doors to block passages, tunnels to other cities, stables, kitchens, wells, and more, allowing inhabitants to live underground protected from frequent invasions on the surface.
