Journey North

 Journey North is a non-profit educational program that
engages students and all citizen scientists in a global
study of wildlife migration and seasonal change.

 Participants share their own field observations with
  classmates

 Journey North is the nation's premiere "citizen science"
project for children. The general public is welcome to
  participate.

«Always choose the most difficult way - there
      you will not find competitors»

We knew about the project “Tulip”s Garden”
from our English teachers and decided to take
       part in this interesting project.
Our hypothesis

      Our hypothesis was the
           following:

   Our Tulip’s Test Garden will
     give us a connection with
English-speaking citizen scientists
Welcome Citizen Scientist
      Gardeners
Doing an experiment

We test our hypothesis
by doing an experiment

Our Experiment
We do our report every week

We are responsible for each part of work:
• To find Red Empire Tulips
• To learn it’s structure
• To draw or make them
• To plant them and investigate the conditions
• To make a report
• To connect with other project’s participants
• To show you our project and invite to collaborate!

The First in Russia
Investigating
We have seen a tulip bulb .
       Hold one and examine it.
How would you describe what it looks like?
Scientific Observations
We're going to bury our tulip bulbs in the
garden. But wait! What's a bulb? Let's take a
look. Our bulb is unique. Measure our bulb
and draw a picture of it.

                  It is a tulip
                      bulb
                      cut in
                     cross
                    section
What is a Bulb? What's Inside?
Carefully cut open a bulb and look
inside. Use a magnifying glass if
you can. What do you see?

 A bulb is a specialized plant storage structure that
contains everything the plant needs to survive
winter and grow in the spring.
 When we cut open our bulb, we can notice that it
is kind of wet and a little juicy. A bulb's thick,
fleshy leaves, called scales store food and water to
keep the bulb alive in cold and dry conditions.
A Closer Look

A bulb contains everything the
 plant needs for winter survival
 and spring growth. As a
scientist, we explore our bulb and
 predict what its parts will
 become.

“The Best Tulip”
We Plant Our Tulips
Our connection with English-
 speaking citizen scientists
Keep Exploring
Our bulb will grow underground this
winter. When spring arrives it will
become a beautiful tulip plant with a
          big red flower!
We are at the beginning!
    But we enjoy our Project!
      We hope you will join
     our TULIP’S GARDEN!
