The tuatara is a rare endangered lizard found in the sand dunes, caves, and native bush on New Zealand. Its habitat can be affected by environmental changes like pollution and human impacts such as cutting down native bush, which would leave tuataras without shelter or a place to hide and could cause them to go extinct. Tuataras have enemies including cats, dogs, rats, and humans, as these can kill baby tuataras, eat their eggs, or destroy their habitat. We can show care for tuataras and prevent their extinction by not cutting down as much native bush and protecting their habitat.
