The Sangre Grande Hospital in Trinidad and Tobago will be the first medical institution in the country to implement new infant security systems to safely monitor baby movements. The systems, which include electronic tags and sensors on doors, are expected to be installed in the next 4-6 weeks. They will trigger alarms if an infant is taken through a door without authorization or if their electronic tag is cut or removed. The solutions aim to prevent baby mix-ups and help secure infants after a kidnapping at another hospital last year. Only the Eastern Regional Health Authority has signed on to implement the new security systems so far.
