Erik the Red challenges Fish to a fight after arriving on the Beaumont family's property with Lester and Lil. When Fish uses his ability to control storms against Erik, Erik punches Fish in the face, starting a fight. Erik eventually gives up and flees, leaving Fish injured. Mibs observes these events and struggles with her unique ability to read minds, noticing the thoughts of Erik's jaguar tattoo.

Summaries:
 Savvy: Mibs Beaumont, gains a magical power called a Savvy on her 13th
birthday. She believes her Savvy is the ability to wake things up. Two friends,
two of her brothers and her join a bus driver on his way to Kansas, but they go
the opposite direction instead. Dismayed they patiently wait for the bus to
head back to Kansas. On their way they meet a lovely lady named Lil. She
helps them try to get back to Kansas, but the police think that the kids have
ran away from home, and are trying to catch them.
 Erik The Red: Erik Thorvaldsson (AKA Erik the Red) was born in 935 and died
in 1003. He was known for discovering Greenland (which ironically is covered
in ice and snow). Erik the Red left Norway because he killed people. His
parents left also ,they set off to see. They traveled West, and eventually
reached a little known place called they decided to call Greenland. They
called it this to lure people from Iceland (covered in grass), to Greenland
(covered in ice).

4. Erik Meets Beaumonts!

 As the sun crept down the bright pink sky, I heard a rumble jumble of an old engine. I rolled out of bed and
walked past Gypsie not bothering to be quiet, Gypsie could sleep through the forth of July fireworks show
snug as a bug in her nest of stuffed pets. As I stared out the window of our two-story home in Kansaska,
Nabransas I recognized the big-pink-Hartlon-bible, clunker of a, bus rumbling down the dirt drive. I snuck
down the hall to fish’s room, tiptoed over to his water bed (after scumbling his savvy he decided he would be
OK sleeping near water), and gently shook him awake. “Fish, Lester and Lil are hear.” I whispered softly. He
rocketed out of bed and together we tiptoe/ran down the stairs, three at a time. As we ran higly pigly out the
door we toppled over Sampson who was just standing there dull eyed (his eyes are always dull) holding his
pet turtle. They picked them selves up hearing the bus door open, but when it opened a 6 foot tall man with
huge muscles, long/red hair, and an army soldier’s attitude barreled off the bus. (Erik the red)
 “Where’s this Fish character you were telling me about weak-man?” asked Erik.
 “H-h-he’s r-right here M-mr. Red,” Lester replied, throwing a please-help-me look in our direction.
 “Ahhh, you must be Fish The Storm-Worker,” the man purred with satisfaction. Then he said
something in his native tongue that sounded like “Jeg utforder deg til kamp!”
 “What did you say?” Fish asked, apparently puzzled at this sentence (if you could call that hodge
podge of ragged jagged words a sentence).
 “I said I challenge you to battle.” replied Erik, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. “Do
you except Storm-Worker?” questioned Erik. In answer Fish turned his back on Erik the Red. In a wink and a
blink, Erik had grabbed Sampson, who in the same amount of amazing speed stuffed his turtle in his pocket.
Fish jerked around sending a gust of wind flying through the air straight at Erik’s face. Erik smiled as if he
was expecting Fish to react like that.
 “Excellent!” a new, gruff voice said evilly, but this voice came from inside my head instead of the out
side. After a year of practice and scumbling I knew automatically that it was from a tattoo..I searched the
man up and down finally realizing his jaguar tattoo on his upper fore-arm. It lashed its tail and crouched
down like it was ready to pounce. Suddenly Erik dropped Sampson (who landed on all fours then switched to
Indian style sitting) and lunged at Fish, punching him in the face. I turned away from the fight, and was
looking away for quite a while. Then I heard the jaguar tattoo whispered in perfect harmony with its wearer’s
mumble, “I give up!” Then, Erik the red shoved past me and fled from Kansaska, Nabransas, leaving Fish with
a black eye and various scraps and bruises and Lester’s gaze following him in utter amazement.

5. Conclusion:
Mibs: Erik the Red:
 As a shy yet imaginative  As a mean and hot-
girl, it is hard for Mibs tempered man, It is not
Beaumont to have her surprising that he has
father be in a car-wreck killed men and been kicked
around the time she gains out of his home country,
a magical, yet strange Norway. He is famous for
power called a Savvy. discovering Greenland
(which is ironically covered
in ice).
