Trajano was a Roman emperor born in Spain who was the first emperor not born in Italy. He expanded the Roman Empire and undertook an extensive public building program in Rome, constructing landmarks like the Forum of Trajan, Trajan's Market, and Trajan's Column. Trajano had a military career, serving in various parts of the empire along the frontier from Hispania to Syria to the Danube and Germania before being named emperor in 98 AD.
