This document provides guidance for supervisory staff on disciplinary procedures and actions. It outlines a 6-step process for handling disciplinary issues, including statement of the problem, information collection, determining penalties, choosing and applying penalties, and follow up. Various activities that constitute indiscipline are defined, such as theft, dishonesty, safety violations, and unauthorized strikes. Forms of disciplinary action are listed from least to most severe, including warnings, demotions, suspensions, fines, and dismissal. Guidelines for disciplinary actions for common offenses after successive infractions are provided, as well as actions for harassment and abuse offenses.
