The breakthrough finally comes as he scores
first his maiden Formula One pole and then
his first F1 victory at round three in China.
Mercedes then suffer a big dip in
performance and the German struggles to
finish in the points regularly. Finishes the
season ninth overall.


5. Lewis Hamilton
2012
The MP4-27 may have been competitive, but poor luck means the
Briton has to wait until Canada to score his first win of the season. He
follows it up with victories in Hungary, Italy and the USA but
mechanical gremlins blunt his title charge. Signs to Mercedes for
2013.

6. TECHNICAL IMPROVEMENTS
 Pirelli's 2013 tyres have a different construction to their
predecessors and therefore respond differently under
aerodynamic load. Mercedes were the first team to
introduce a revised front wing (lower picture) in order to
cope with the new shape of the tyres. As you can see, the
new wing is comprised of five elements which has
increased the number of slot gaps from two to four (1). A
small turning vane has also been added (2), whilst the fin
on the outside of the endplate has been removed (3).

I think will win Fernando Alonso this season
In my opinion, he is the best driver in
Formula 1. This season the team has
improved the car and WILL win the
championship. I want that he win because
he is Spanish and the best one.
