Top 3 sneakers to “kick” off 2018
1. Top 3 Sneakers to “Kick” Off 2018
There’s nothing quite like slipping on a new pair of sneaks and taking those first steps to see
how it feels. The squeak of the leather, the squish of the cushioned soles -- there’s nothing like
it. I love sneakers. It doesn’t embarrass me to admit it. At the risk of being compared to Imelda
Marcos, I have to admit that I own well over forty pairs of sneakers.
With the devotion and the bucks I have paid to the shoe industry, I have become a bit of a
connoisseur of all things sneaker. A sneakerhead, sneaker junkie or a sneaker snob, if you will.
With this ringing self-endorsement, I would like to offer my 3 top picks for kicks that you must
have in the coming year.
#3 – Gucci “New Ace” – this is a beautiful, Italian cut sneaker featuring charcoal grey leather
with a slightly lighter grey classic Gucci logo design. Three colorful stripes on the side made of
signature webbing gives a splash of color with navy and red. The backs of the sneaks have a
splash of metallic red on one shoe and metallic blue on the other just to make it flames.
#2 – Adidas “Gazelle” – these classic lows with the 3 Adidas stripes are the ultimate for sneaks
that look great with everything. They’re cheap enough that you can buy more than one color to
add to the enjoyment and use ‘em for beaters. After all, who wouldn’t want suede kicks in royal,
goldenrod or trace green?
#1 – Prada “Cloudburst” – think “Star Wars meets Brad Pitt.” These super-comfy knit trainers
feature a space design with high gloss bubble midsoles and a sleek Velcro strap instead of
laces. They come in three color choices, but you can’t beat black on black for that futuristic look.
With the quick zip strap, I like how fast these go on and how fast I can go in them.
If you’re looking for value, stick with the Gazelles for around $60. But if you have some birthday
money to blow, check out the Guccis for upwards of $650 or the Pradas for a cool $695. I know,
it’s a lot of dough, but once you slip on a pair of designer shoes you’ll never want to go back to
the rack. It’s torture.
