This document contains responses from a pregnancy advisor answering questions about timing intercourse in relation to LH surges and ovulation when trying to conceive a boy. The advisor provides information on the Shettles Method and explains that the male sperm are quicker but die sooner, so intercourse within 12-24 hours of an LH surge may tip the odds toward a boy. However, the sex of the baby cannot be guaranteed. The advisor also answers questions about consistency of LH surges and optimal timing of intercourse through the fertile window.
The document provides information about the heat cycle of female dogs in response to questions from multiple people. It describes the four stages of a dog's heat cycle - proestrus, estrus, diestrus, and anestrus. Proestrus involves swelling and bloody discharge as the body prepares. Estrus is the stage where the dog will accept breeding, lasting around 9 days on average. Afterward is diestrus, where discharge stops and lasts around 60 days. Finally anestrus is the resting phase between cycles, usually lasting 5 months. Signs a dog is in heat and when the cycle ends are explained in response to the questions.
The document discusses the stages of a dog's heat cycle and answers questions about signs of heat and the duration of each stage. It explains that a dog's heat cycle consists of 4 stages - proestrus, estrus, diestrus, and anestrus. Proestrus involves swelling and bleeding, estrus is when the dog will mate, diestrus follows ovulation, and anestrus is the resting phase between cycles. On average, estrus lasts 9 days but can vary significantly between dogs. The questions asked and answers provided give additional details on signs of heat, breeding windows, and cycle lengths.
The document discusses various questions from women about their menstrual cycles and ovulation. It provides answers from a pregnancy advisor addressing topics like detecting LH levels after ovulation, cramping after ovulation, confirming the LH surge window to get pregnant, and whether a negative ovulation test means no ovulation will occur that month. The advisor explains that some LH is always present and offers explanations for various symptoms to help interpret menstrual cycles.
Luteinizing hormone (LH) plays an important role in ovulation and the formation of the corpus luteum in the ovaries. Several questions are asked and answered regarding LH function, how it relates to fertility and ovulation, and what factors can influence LH levels. Nutrients like cholesterol are required for the formation of LH and testosterone. Irregular periods and difficulty conceiving may be associated with low or irregular LH levels.
This document discusses questions from multiple people about luteinizing hormone (LH) and testosterone levels. It provides answers about how clomiphene treatment increased the questioner's LH, FSH, and testosterone levels into the normal range. It also discusses how high LH and testosterone could indicate polycystic ovarian syndrome and explains that sufficient testosterone causes GnRH inhibition, decreasing LH and FSH production.

The document discusses LH (luteinizing hormone) surges and how they relate to ovulation and pregnancy. It answers several questions from women about positive LH test results in relation to their menstrual cycles and potential pregnancy. It explains that an LH surge can indicate ovulation, and that home pregnancy tests can sometimes not detect pregnancy for several days after conception. A positive LH test could mean the body is gearing up to ovulate or that the test is detecting the similar HCG hormone from an early pregnancy. Proper timing of intercourse in relation to the LH surge and ovulation can impact chances of conception.
The document discusses Luteinizing hormone (LH) surges and how they relate to ovulation and early pregnancy. It answers several questions from users about LH surges showing up for extended periods after ovulation and whether this could indicate pregnancy. The advisor explains that a sustained LH surge past the expected ovulation day, shown by continued positive ovulation predictor kit (OPK) tests, can be a potential sign of pregnancy, as the LH and human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) hormones are similar and OPKs may still pick them up. Pregnancy would need to be confirmed with a pregnancy test.
The document discusses questions from several women about luteinizing hormone (LH) surges and their relation to ovulation and early pregnancy. It explains that an LH surge detected by an ovulation prediction kit can sometimes indicate pregnancy, as the HCG hormone produced during pregnancy is similar to LH and can trigger a positive result on the kits. It's possible to have an LH surge and still be pregnant. The document provides responses to questions about cramping before periods, positive LH surges after the expected date of periods, and whether LH surges can occur when already pregnant.
While it is possible to experience an LH surge without ovulation, it is unlikely. A positive LH test combined with other fertile signs like egg white cervical mucus mean ovulation is likely imminent or has already occurred. It is also possible to miss the LH surge if only testing once per day. Ovulation can occur as early as 5-10 days after stopping Clomid, so monitoring with ultrasounds is recommended when taking fertility medications. Getting an LH surge at 6DPO is unusual but not unheard of, and increased cervical mucus during the TWW is a common symptom.
The document discusses questions about a dog's heat cycle. It provides details on the typical stages of a dog's heat cycle, including proestrus (swelling and bloody discharge), estrus (standing heat where the dog will receive a male), diestrus (discharge tapers off), and anestrus (resting phase between cycles). 1. Timing Between Lh Surge And Ovulation
Understanding Luteinizing hormone

Sharon asks…
Ive tried all diffrent ovulation calculators and all them say im
ovulating a diffrent day by like a day or 2?
How do i know wen is the exact day of ovulation if there diffrent days?
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
Vanessa, the reason you are getting mixed answers on ovulation is we all ovulate at different
times each cycle! The only constant thing is our luteal phase, this is the time between ovulation
and flow. Now, the only way to know for sure when you ovulate is to chart OR use ovulation test
kits known as OPK’s. They can detect the LH surge and determine if you are about to ovulate
or have.
Its best to use both methods but it can be maddening lol. Trust me, until you really understand
your own body’s fertility signs it can be more confusing than anything. I suggest doing what I
did. Go to a site like fertilityfriend.com. There you can sign up for a free account and then sign
up on the left for the fertility charting lessons. They are free as well and will come daily via
email. They are incredibly helpful and will offer some great insight as far as what is fertile
cervical mucus and other signs to look for.
Get yourself a Basal Body Thermometer. You can get them for about 4-6 bucks at your local
drug store. They are great because they read another tenth of a degree. Instead of saying 98.6,
1/7
2. a BBT will say 98.67. This way when you chart which is taking your BBT at the same time each
day before you even get out of bed then typing it in, it will show even slight variances.
The chart will also allow you to keep track of when you make love so you have an idea of how
you are doing in that department. Though the best way to conceive is make love every day or
every other day once. That way you don’t miss your window.
Best of luck and blessings
Mandy asks…
Is the Answer daily ovulation tracker a good product to use?
I am using the Answer daily ovulation tracker. The control line seems to be getting darker but
the test line seems to be getting lighter. Has anyone had problems with this before?
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
I got pregnant using this brand. If your test line is getting lighter then you may have already
passed your “peak.” I had a fade in period where the test would get darker for a couple days
before I got a positive. Make sure you aren’t using first morning urine. I think the directions say
its okay to, but your results are going to be better if you take the test between 10 a.m. And 5
p.m. It has to be the same time everyday and try not to pee at least 3 hours before the test or
urine will be diluted. It is possible for the line to get lighter after the LH surge is on its way back
down. So, I hope you’ve been bd-ing. Keep using the tests until you run out just to be sure that
the LH surge isn’t on it’s way up.

3. Lizzie asks…
What are the stages before Ovulation and what happens after?
Can anyone tell me what happens when you get ready to ovulate and after ovulation? What
occurs afterwards?
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
.The First Days of the Menstrual Cycle
The menstrual cycle actually begins with the first day of your period. During this time, estrogen
levels in your body are extremely low. This signals your body to produce FSH. As the levels of
FSH in your bloodstream rise, approximately 20 follicles inside of your ovary begin to mature.
One of these follicles will begin to secrete estradiol, a type of estrogen, while the weaker follicles
die off. As your period ends, your body will prepare for ovulation by creating a thicker uterine
lining, appropriate for implantation. Your cervical mucus will also change, from thick and clumpy,
to thin and slippery.
Ovulation
Ovulation occurs around the 14th day of your menstrual cycle. During this time, estrogen begins
to rise rapidly, peaking about a day before ovulation. As your estrogen levels peak, your body
will experience a surge in LH, triggering your ovaries to release an egg from its follicle. This egg
will enter one of your fallopian tubes and travel towards your uterus. The leftover egg follicle
gradually shrinks, becoming the corpus luteum. The corpus luteum secretes progesterone,
helping to prepare your uterine lining for pregnancy.

4. Menstruation
If your egg is not fertilized after ovulation, your body will progress into the menstrual phase of its
cycle. During this stage, the unfertilizied egg is expelled from the vagina along with the uterine
lining. This is your menstrual period. Typically, menstruation lasts between three and seven
days, though it can last as long as ten days. Your menstrual blood may change in color, ranging
from bright red to deep brown. You may also notice some small clots in the blood. This is
because your menstrual fluid is actually comprised of various cells and tissues. During
menstruation, hormone levels drop, signalling the cycle to start all over again.
I googled stages of menstrual cycle. You should too.
Also read the book, taking charge of your fertility. It will educated you beyond what you ever
thought you’d know.
Carol asks…
When should I start using my ovulation kit?
My period ended today and I brought the First Response ovulation predictor strips.
When should I start?
Also what time of the day should I use them?
*My periods are extremely irregular by the way if it helps*
4/7
5. Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
Hi!
If you have a 28 day cycle then start on cycle day 12, if you have a 30 day cycle then start on
14th cycle day and so on
Its best to use anytine between 2pm to 8pm make sure you have not peed for atleast three
hours and dont take too much liquid in before testing. Test everyday at the same time till you
detect your LH Surge. One detected stop using the OPKs and start baby making the following 4
days atleast. Good luck hun!
Betty asks…
Did any other women have problems with their menstrual cycle
before trying to conceive?
I’m bleeding between my periods and so I have an appointment with the gynecologist to make
sure it’s not something bad before conceiving. It’s frustrating because I wish I could start trying
already. Any other women had a similar situation? Thanks.
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
Yes! I was extremely irregular my whole life. Sometimes I would go 3-4 months without a period
5/7
6. and sometimes I would bleed every two weeks for a couple months. This also meant my
ovulation was all off as well. I ended up having to go on birth control for 2 months to get my
hormones straightened out, and when I went off the pill, I ovulated 3 weeks later (I used
ovulation tests and caught the LH surge) and got pregnant that time! Your only other option
would be to test ovulation every day until you catch the LH surge, and then be strategical in
having sex for the next 3-4 days. It was VERY hard on me too, so I completely understand. The
last thing I wanted to do when I was trying so hard to conceive, was go on birth control!! But it
worked, and in the end, I had to thank my doctor for insisting on it. Good Luck!!
Maria asks…
how long does the ovulation stay current in your urine after
putting it in a cup?
I urined in the morning – in a cup then realized the ovulation stick was in the car so I waited like
2 hours before I did the test with the morning urine… would this still be accurate? Does the
ovualtion hormone go away?
Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:
It took you 2 hours to get to your car and back? Anyway, you shouldn’t be using the morning –
the best time to test is between 10am and 7pm. The test is looking for the LH surge which
happens 12-36 hours before ovulation so yes, it does go away.
