Professors,

Good

First

  I

I
  hope
  everyone
  is
  awake.
  I
  know
  some
  of
  you
  are
  here
  because
  your

forced

  or
  bribed

That’s

  good
  example
  of
  business

Anyway…

Thank

  I’m
  very
  honored

  It’s

  Slide

P1500
  today
  is
  like
  15
  cups
  of
  Starbucks
  Coffee,

P1500
  today
  is
  like
  half
  a
  tank
  of
  gas,

P1500
  today
  a
  textbook,

Or
  a
  shirt,

Or
  watching
  Piolo’s
  next

  over
  and
  over
  20
  times

Or
  enough
  cellphone
  load
  for
  a
  month,

Though
  to
  those
  of
  you
  in
  love,
  it’s
  only
  good
  for
  a
  day

The
  point
  is
  P1500
  today,
  the
  amount,
  doesn’t
  seem
  so
  significant.

But
  you
  see,
  the
  significance
  here,
  the
  significant
  things
  in
  life,
  have
  less
  to
  do

with
  amounts,
  but
  more
  to
  do
  with
  the
  principle
  of
  sowing
  (which
  is
  investing)

and
  reaping
  (which
  is
  our
  return).

To
  put
  it
  simply,
  when
  you
  sow,
  while
  your
  seed
  may
  be
  tiny,
  one
  day
  it
  will

grow
  into
  something
  greater
  than
  anything
  you
  could
  have
  imagined.

Fifth

  and
  to
  the

formation
  of

  to

  that

  every
  time

First  Slide       Department  Officials,   Professor  Ma.  Socorro  P.  Calara,   Rev.  Fr.  Senen  R.  Ecleo   Asst.  Prof.  Mary  Hildence  M.  Baluyot   Asst.  Prof.  Maureen  H.  Gelle     Department  Chairs,   Asst.  Prof.  Erika  V.  Puno   Mr.  Ronald  Paguta   Asst.  Prof  Riaz  Benjamin   Mr.  Celso  Noel  D.  Aban     Professors,  students,       Good  morning!     First  of  all  I  would  like  to  congratulate  the  College  of  Commerce  and  Business   Administration  on  your  78th  anniversary.         I  hope  everyone  is  awake.  I  know  some  of  you  are  here  because  your  professor   forced  you  or  bribed  you  with  some  incentive.     That’s  a  good  example  of  business  right  there.       Anyway…     Thank  you  for  inviting  me.  I’m  very  honored  to  be  here  with  you  today  to  share   something  I’ve  entitled:         Second  Slide     THESE  THREE  REMAIN       To  start  us  off,  I’d  like  to  share  a  very  interesting  story  I  came  across.  It’s  the   story  of  P1500.     Third  Slide     A  long  long  long  time  ago  a  man  decided  to  give  P1500  and  his  collection  of   books  to  start  a  seminary  to  prepare  young  men  for  priesthood.

Fourth  Slide     P1500  today  is  like  15  cups  of  Starbucks  Coffee,   P1500  today  is  like  half  a  tank  of  gas,   P1500  today  a  textbook,   Or  a  shirt,   Or  watching  Piolo’s  next  movie  over  and  over  20  times   Or  enough  cellphone  load  for  a  month,   Though  to  those  of  you  in  love,  it’s  only  good  for  a  day     The  point  is  P1500  today,  the  amount,  doesn’t  seem  so  significant.       But  you  see,  the  significance  here,  the  significant  things  in  life,  have  less  to  do   with  amounts,  but  more  to  do  with  the  principle  of  sowing  (which  is  investing)   and  reaping  (which  is  our  return).         To  put  it  simply,  when  you  sow,  while  your  seed  may  be  tiny,  one  day  it  will   grow  into  something  greater  than  anything  you  could  have  imagined.       Fifth  Slide       That  original  P1500  in  our  story  was  the  seed  for  what  would  one  day  become  a   great  institution  that  would  dedicate  itself  to  the  pursuit  of  Truth  and  to  the   formation  of  competent  and  compassionate  men  and  women.  This  institution   would  be  inspired  by  the  ideals  of  St.  Dominic  de  Guzman  and  guided  by  the   teachings  of  St.  Thomas  Aquinas.       Sixth  Slide       This  great  institution  is  what  we  know  today  as  the  University  of  Santo  Thomas.     It’s  an  amazing  story,  and  I  wanted  to  share  it  with  you  so  that  every  time  you   come  here,  every  time  you  go  to  class,  every  time  you  teach  your  class,  you  will   remember  the  power  of  sowing  a  good  seed.       Seventh  Slide         Some  of  you  will  say,  what  seed?  I  don’t  even  have  P1500.  I  have  nothing.     My  answer  is:     Eight  Slide     Sow  the  best  seed  possible.  Sow  your  life.  So  your  time,  sow  your  strength,   sow  your  mind,  sow  your  dreams,  and  sow  everything  else…

…and  wait  patiently…     …Your  good  seed  will  grow,  and  it  will  be  greater  than  you  had  ever   imagined.       -‐  9th  Slide     ME     I’ve  had  the  privilege  to  sow  my  life  into  mainly  building  businesses  and   communities  through  my  5  main  involvements:     1. As  President  of  Issho  Genki  –  distributors  of  the  oxygen  supplement   Squalene    -‐  10th  Slide     2. As  a  volunteer  and  former  executive  director  of  the  Real  LIFE  Foundation   –  a  non-‐profit  that  supports  the  education  of  185  scholars   -‐  13th  Slide   5. As  a  national  board  member  of  Habitat  for  Humanity   -‐  14th  Slide       The  thing  tying  these  activities  together  is  my  life’s  pursuit  of  VALUE     -‐  15th  Slide       Albert  Einstein,  the  famous  scientist  once  said:     Try  not  to  become  a  man  of  success  but  rather  become  a  man  of  value.     -‐ 16th  Slide         The  idea  of  Value  is  very  important  in  business.  What  is  business  but  a   value  exchange?       Take  these  companies  and  products  for  example,  all  of  them  offer  some  value   that  they  exchange  for  our  money.     -‐  17th  Slide

Someday,  after  everything  is  said  and  done,  we  will  all  die.  I  don’t  mean  to  be   grim  but  it’s  the  truth.  A  lot  of  people  don’t  like  to  think  about  it,  but  I  find  it’s   better  to  remember  that  there  is  a  time  limit,  that  there  is  an  ending,  so  that  we   can  live  a  life  that  not  only  prepares  for  the  end,  but  uses  the  time  we  do  have  on   earth  to  bring  value.       When  our  end  does  come  I  wonder  what  people  will  think  off  when  they   remember  us.   -‐  41st  Slide       Some  of  us  in  this  room  will  become  rich,  some  of  us  not-‐so-‐wealthy.  Some  of  us   will  become  famous  and  known.  Some  of  us  will  be  respected.  Some  of  us  will  be   private,  some  remain  anonymous,  and  even  some  will  be  invisible.  Some  of  us   will  lead.  Some  of  us  will  follow.  Some  of  us  will  have  large  families.  And  others   never  marry.  There  are  many  different  things  we  can  do  with  our  lives.     But  whatever  you  do,  I  hope  you  will  remember,  that  just  like  a  seed,  just  like   that  P1500  of  Bisho  Benavidez,  you  will  sow  your  life  into  the  great  value  of   reaching  people,  and  that  you  will  do  so  with  faith,  hope,  and  love.   -‐  42nd  Slide       Thank  you  very  much!
