Lacrosse is becoming Scotland's fastest growing sport, with the number of registered players doubling to over 1,000 in the past six years. Originally seen as a private school sport, efforts are being made to broaden lacrosse's appeal, including establishing the game in state schools where football and hockey have traditionally dominated. The largest growth has been in female players, with a national women's league now established to address women being put off from mixed games against larger male players.
