THE TEMPLE
Part 2: David Prepares the Materials
However, the Most High does not
dwell in temples made with hands,
as the prophet says: ‘Heaven is My
throne, and earth is My footstool.
What house will you build for Me?
says the Lord, Or what is the place
of My rest? Has My hand not made
all these things?’

                    Acts 7: 48 - 50
Jesus answered and said to them,
“Destroy this temple, and in three
days I will raise it up.” … But He
was speaking of the temple of His
body.
                    John 2: 18 – 21

Or do you not know that your body
is the temple of the Holy
Spirit who is in you…?

               II Corinthians 6: 19, 20
Now, therefore, you are no longer
strangers and foreigners, but fellow
citizens with the saints and members
of the household of God, having been
built on the foundation of the
apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ
Himself being the chief cornerstone,
in whom the whole building, being
fitted together, grows into a holy
temple in the Lord, in whom you also
are being built together for a
dwelling place of God in the Spirit.
              Ephesians 2: 19 - 22

Part 2: David Prepares the Materials
1. I Have Set My Affection

Moreover, because I have set my
affection on the house of my God, …
                 I Chronicles 29: 3
1. I Have Set My Affection

I know also, my God, that You test the
heart and have pleasure in uprightness. As
for me, in the uprightness of my heart, I
have willingly offered all these things … O
Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel,
our fathers, keep this forever in the intent
of the thoughts of the heart of Your people,
and fix their heart toward You. And give
my son Solomon a loyal heart to keep Your
commandments…
                    I Chronicles 29: 17 - 19
1. I Have Set My Affection
2. With All My Might

Now for the house of my God I
have prepared with all my
might…

                 I Chronicles 29: 2
1. I Have Set My Affection
2. With All My Might
3. Gold For Things of Gold

Now for the house of my God I have
prepared with all my might: gold for
things to be made of gold, silver for
things of silver, bronze for things of
bronze, iron for things of iron, wood
for things of wood.

             I Chronicles 29: 2
Having then gifts differing according to the
grace that is given to us, let us use them.
                   Romans 12: 6

But now God has set the members, each one
of them, in the body just as He pleased….
But indeed there are many members, yet
one body.
                   I Corinthians 12: 18 - 20
1. I Have Set My Affection
2. With All My Might
3. Gold For Things of Gold
4. Over and Above

I have given to the house of my
God, over and above all that I
have prepared for the holy house,
my own special treasure of gold
and silver.
             I Chronicles 29: 3
1. I Have Set My Affection
2. With All My Might
3. Gold For Things of Gold
4. Over and Above
5. Honor From God

Both riches and honor come from
You, and You reign over all.
             I Chronicles 29: 12
Thus says the Lord: “You shall not
build Me a house to dwell in. …
Furthermore I tell you that the Lord
will build you a house. And it shall be,
when your days are fulfilled, when you
must go to be with your fathers, that I
will set up your seed after you … and I
will establish his throne forever…. And
I will establish him in My house and in
My kingdom forever; and his throne
shall be established forever.”
                 I Chronicles 17: 4 - 14
For we dare not class ourselves or
compare ourselves with those who
commend themselves. But they,
measuring themselves by themselves,
and comparing themselves among
themselves, are not wise. … For not he
who commends himself is approved,
but whom the Lord commends.

                II Corinthians 10: 12 - 18
1. I Have Set My Affection
2. With All My Might

Both riches and honor come from
You, and You reign over all.

So [David] died in a good old age,
full of days and riches and honor.
             I Chronicles 29: 28
Who then is willing to consecrate
himself this day to the Lord?
              I Chronicles 29: 5
