Mr. Bailey finds an injured stranger on the road and takes him home to help. The stranger has lost his memory and acts unfamiliar with everyday tasks. He stays with the Bailey family and helps with farm work, never tiring. After a few weeks, the stranger leaves and overnight the trees' leaves change color, as if ending the stranger's influence over the unchanging seasons.

1. The Stranger

2. It was the time of year Mr. Bailey liked best, when summer
ended and fall began. Mr. Bailey was driving and thought he hit
a deer, but when he got out of the truck he saw a man lying in
the road. The Stranger tried to run away then lost balance and
fell. When he got up again instead of running into the woods,
Mr. bailey helped him to the truck and took him to the Baileys
farm.

3. Then Mr. bailey helped him inside where Mrs. Bailey sat him on the
comfortable sofa. The Stranger was dressed in drab, rough and odd
clothing. Katy herd Mr. bailey whisper “he must be some type of
loner………a person who lives alone in the woods’’. Then Mr. Bailey called
a doctor, the doctor gave the Stanger a check-up. The doctor said the
Stranger had lost his memory, and in a few days he will regain it.

4. Mr. Bailey let the stranger borrow some of his clean clothes, The stranger
seemed to be unfamiliar with buttons and button holes. At dinner the steam
that was rising from the warm food fascinated him, Then he watched Katy
blow across a spoonful of hot soup and The Stranger copied . Then Mrs.
Bailey said ``its going to be cold tonight”

5. The next day Katy stalked the Stranger and saw two bunnies hopping his
way , she saw the stranger pick one up and pet its ears then set it down .
They hopped away then suddenly looked back as if they wanted the stranger
to follow. Later that day Mr. Bailey gave the stranger a pitchfork and with a
little practice the stranger mastered it . Occasionally Mr. Bailey would have to
take a break but the Stranger Never got tired.

6. • That night Katy sat with the Stranger , looking at the sunset .
In the sky they saw a flock of geese in a perfect V shape,
flying south for the cold season approaching. Katy realized
that the stranger was daydreaming while looking at the
geese. Two weeks passed and the stranger still had
anesthesia. But they didn’t care ,they liked having the
stranger around.

7. Another seven days passed , and farmer bailey couldn’t notice
how weird the weather has been. The other day it seemed like
fall was coming, but it felt like summer… as if the seasons
couldn’t change. The stranger thought the green leaves were
ugly and thought orange leves should be here.
