The eagle has the longest lifespan of its species at 70 years. However, eagles over 40 years old can no longer hunt effectively due to stiff talons and a bent beak. Their heavy, thick feathers also make flying difficult. Eagles at this stage have two options: die or undergo a painful 150-day molting process. This involves knocking off its beak against rocks, plucking out talons, and replacing old feathers to allow 30 more years of life through a flight of rebirth.
