Renewed in Grace
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

3. WHAT IS A SACRAMENT?
“It is the visible sign
of invisible grace.”
4. Two of the sacraments are “ordained of
Christ our Lord in the Gospels” and these are:
BAPTISM
THE EUCHARIST
5. The other five (not Sacraments of the Gospel)
are:
Sacrament of Reconciliation (confession and absolution)
Holy Matrimony
Confirmation
Ordination
Anointing of the Sick
11. 1. The Sacrament of
Reconciliation is one way to
have our sins absolved.
2. The Anglican position on this
sacrament is: all may, some
should but none must.
12. 3. Absolution is NOT a sign that
the priest acts as God but a
reminder that God forgives
us.
4. Absolution DOES NOT
absolves us from secular
punishments.
13. SACRAMENT OF HOLY MATRIMONY

14. 1. Holy matrimony (marriage) is
when two souls become one
– connected together with
God.
2. So…….a church union or
traditional marriage? Why
both?
19. 1. The Sacrament of Ordination
recognises the threefold
ministries – or holy orders –
of the Bishop, the Priest and
the Deacon.
2. The anointing of these orders
is called ORDINATION.
20. ANOINTING OF THE SICK
This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY-NC-ND
21. 1. In times of weakness we need
God to comfort us – we are given
assurance that God is with us by
the sacrament of ANOINTING
THE SICK or SACRAMENT OF
UNCTION.
22. 2. The Priest anoints with Holy
Oil accompanied by a prayer.
3. It also reminds the sick that
they are not alone.
4. It also reminds family &
caregivers to be strong and
have faith.
23. We are the ANGLICAN CHURCH
and although application of the
Sacraments is similar to the
Roman Catholic Church they are
NOT the same.
