Bethesda Presbyterian Church will be celebrating its 170th anniversary with a special service at 10 a.m. Sunday. The service will be led by Kathleen Morris, a member of the church currently in seminary to become a minister. The event is held in conjunction with the 100th Williams family picnic. Many of the family members are descendants of the church’s founders. Among the artifacts in the church are bibles dating back to 1856.

The Weathered Kite
The poem describes the journey from youth to adulthood using the metaphor of a kite. It depicts childhood as carefree and fun, represented by activities like running outside and school dances. Adulthood brings responsibilities like careers, marriage and children that ground one's dreams. Technology also changes how people socialize. Though the kite becomes weathered, it can still fly in moments of nostalgia, showing how one can still find joy despite life's changes.
