Summary
5. Basically the people who are out of wealth and property are compelled to
live in tents or Temporary Residence.
They change their location regularly either to earn money or when they are
asked to leave the place of inhabitancy by law enforcement agencies or by
local Administrations.
Their days and Nights are very difficult to them but they spend their time
quietly.
A piece of cloth “Tent” is everything to them and they bear the heat of
summer, severe winter and rainy season but no body knows their sufferings.
Introduction
6. Basic Needs
Every person who comes to this world demands some needs from the Govt of that
country. They have same as the followings:
1. A house (but they are homeless)
2. Proper food
3. Education
4. Health Facilities
5. Job
7. Mode of earning
Job is not available to them by Govt. level so they are compelled to earn money at
cheap rate of laboring. Some of them Nomadic (migratory) are:
Beggars
Labors at daily wages
Vendors
Toys seller
Max. earning of a migrator is 500-700 rupees. Due to high price rise of necessary
things they can’t save the money!
8. “Education”
The people living in tents are uneducated but they have some Islamic Information,
too. They teach their children “The Holy Quran”.
They didn’t send their children to school because they have no money and main
reason that they change their place regularly!
But 1 out of 1000 may be educated, like a migratory in Lahore passed the
examination of C.S.S
Govt. should raise the steps for the education of such people to increase the
literacy rate.
9. Health Facilities
The nomadic have no health facilities!
They have to travel to govt. hospital for many miles.
They can’t bear the dieses’s treatment privately and
many of them die because they are financially weak and
can’t bear the treatment privately.
Fresh water is not easily available to them!
Sometimes Their children are compelled to eat unhygienic
food which they collect from Trash of fruit market!!!!!
10. Questioning and Answering with a
Migratory
We asked some questions from a Migratory “Wasif Ali” and he friendly answered us.
Nabeel: “Why do you live in these tents and why not in house by paying rent?”
Wasif:” To earn the money for life we live in tents and we can’t afford house on
rent because we have not enough money”.
Hadid: “Does the Government aid or support you financially”
Wasif:” The Government doesn’t support and aid us. They have no concern with
us. They have no money for us except themselves only.”
11. Questioning and Answering with a
Migratory
Hassan:” Why did you not get education and why are you not Educating your
children?”.
Wasif:” We can’t afford the expanses of education. And second reason is that we
continuously migrate from one place to another.
But I have learn the “Holy Quran” and we teach our Children the Holy Quran!!!”
Izaz Rasool: “What is your source of Income and is it enough for you?”
Wasif: “I use to sell the sweet on my bicycle and collect the used plastic, iron and
shoes in return and I hardly make 500 rupees/day. My income isn’t enough to fulfil
my family needs. If we eat one time we have to remain hungry for 2nd time
Thanks to Wasif!
12. Role of Government
Unfortunately the Government is not fulling it’s responsibilities regarding the people
living in tents.
Govt should provide the basic needs of life to the Nomadic like:
At least small homes (if not possible make a colony for them at any specific place)
Education
Health Facilities
Monthly aid or allowance (Like BISP Benazir Income Support Programme)
Better Job or Give them some “Technical Skills” ( Like Under TEVTA skills
programme etc)
13. Co-operation of the Rich people
We also meet a rich person in our visit who was working for the facilities of the
people living in tents.
Seeing him we feel that some people are alive who have sincerity with Nomadics.
14. Our Responsibility
They are part of our country. We should help them at all the Levels of Nation Building.
Being Student we should spare sometime and educate their children as much as we
can.
At social level, for the sake of unity, we should share the happiness of occasions like
Eid-ul-Azha and Eid-ul-Fitar etc with them.
15. Summary
The people living in Tents wants our attention.
The difference between the rich and the poor is touching to an alarming Situation
in Pakistan. We should have to minimize it.
Health facilities should be provided to them at their door.
The Government of Pakistan should raise necessary steps for Education and their
better life.
Govt. should adorn such people with Technical Education/Courses .
With this prayer I end my presentation that “May the Life of people living in
tents change and they enjoy equal rights as citizens of Islamic Republic of
Pakistan!”
