The kings James and Jack were brothers but enemies in 1500 England. James decided to kill Jack and the people of his castle, but Jack's children survived. Jack's son then avenged his father by preparing an army to kill James and his servants, leading to everyone dying. On Halloween nights in 1720 and 1734, children from Jack's town saw and heard ghosts telling the story of how they all died, and the children later killed everyone in James's town before they themselves died a year later, with the legend saying the ghosts will come out of their tombs forever.
