A male liger named Rocky living in an animal sanctuary in California fatally attacked his trainer, Peter Getz. Rocky had been raised in captivity without his mother and displayed unpredictable, aggressive behavior. When Getz entered Rocky's cage to feed him, Rocky ignored the food and mauled Getz severely, inflicting head wounds. Getz died the next day in the hospital, proving that even large exotic cats like ligers that are kept in captivity can be dangerous if not properly socialized from a young age.
