The Kayapo People are an indigenous group in the Amazon known as the "monkey people" due to their masks. They live in small villages of a dozen huts each in the eastern Amazon. While traditionally farmers who rotate cleared land, the Kayapo now face threats from diseases they have no immunity to, deforestation destroying their environment, and impacts of the modern world. To learn more about their culture like wearing lip plates and use of over 250 food plants, see the Wikipedia article listed.
