Shipibo Ayahuasca Shaman Benjamin Ochavano InterviewHoward Charing
Benjamin Ochavano Is a traditional Shipibo Muraya .He is in his late eighties, and his chants (icaros) sung in the Shipibo language are extraordinary beautiful and with a powerful and extensive vocal range.
Note: This interview was with Peter Cloudsley and Howard G Charing on the Rio Tamishaku in 2002. The article has been revised to include end notes, plant classifications, and some additional photos. I last met up with Benjamin in Pisaq January 2010, still looking strong and very robust – he is in his late eighties! Benjamin is holding ayahuasca ceremonies in the Cuzco area, and if anyone has an opportunity to drink with this traditional Shipibo Muraya and Palero and hear his amazing icaros – go for it!
This document provides an overview of various artworks and products available for purchase from an art gallery or catalog. It describes typographic books that demonstrate principles of print layout, linoleum carvings, letterpress prints, stained glass artwork that can be used indoors or outdoors, painted picture frames that can display photos or poems, original oil and acrylic paintings and signed print copies, and photographs in different styles ranging from subtle to vibrant. The document encourages browsing the gallery to find unique gifts and mentions customized wedding invitations can also be made.
The document provides an overview of projects by designer Sarah S. Schramm, including renovations of the Cardona master bath and kitchen as well as the design of the Sustainabuild headquarters. Schramm's design philosophy focuses on sustainability and considers the environment and all involved. The Cardona bath renovation updated fixtures and finishes while maintaining privacy. The kitchen renovation incorporated warm finishes and an open concept floor plan. Sustainabuild's design reflected the company's values through calming colors and natural materials. Furniture upholstery projects included updating vintage and family pieces.
The document describes the design process for a digipack for a band's first album. Photos were taken to resemble other bands' first album covers. The front cover centers the two lead members to draw attention. Design elements like filters, textures, and color schemes were applied in Photoshop to achieve a style similar to Fall Out Boy. Additional pages in the booklet provide photos of band members with humorous captions and promotional posters continue the themes of red, black, and a cartoony effect.

The opening credits of Dawn of the Dead use disturbing imagery and sound effects to set an ominous tone and warn viewers of frightening content. Shots of a disfigured statue and a pale man with blood gushing from his mouth provide early clues that the film will involve religion and a horrific situation. The document discusses Ron Mueck, an artist known for his hyper-realistic sculptures depicting the human form and human experiences like suffering and loneliness. Mueck's sculptures are often smaller or larger than real life, with each piece being a unique creation. Showing Mueck's works in galleries can be challenging due to the large size of some pieces and desire to display them individually. The text also examines the challenges of finding appropriate gallery space for Mueck's sculptures.
The document provides an overview and analysis of an art exhibition by painter Shaji Appukuttan titled "Karuna- A Painter's Query". The exhibition features a collection of Shaji's paintings exploring themes of impermanence, detachment from sensory objects, and the presence of spiritual figures. The author analyzes various paintings and their subjects in detail, concluding the exhibition shares a vulnerable moment of the artist's internal creative process centered around the concept of "Karuna" or compassion.
Anna in the Tropics
By Nilo Cruz
Director's Concept
Ofeila says to Marela, “That’s why the writer describes love as a thief. The thief is the
mysterious fever that poets have been studying for years.” For me the play is all about the love for
something (change, companionship, art, work, etc.) that humanity struggles for, and that ultimately
is that “stolen” aspect of who and what we are as individuals. It is Cruz’s words, characters, and the
relationship that these characters have with the story Anna Karenina that is the catalyst for their
love. It is a political love, a self-love, a love of someone else, and a love for change that drives
these characters to create their own endings.
Cruz remarked in one of his interviews that, “Cuba has changed tremendously. I have
changed, too. I guess sometimes I fear what the impact of going back would be on me.” This is a
perfect example of each character in the play. Conceptually, change is ultimately the downfall or
co-requisite to the love that these characters emote internally and externally. It becomes the
underlying motivation for the story (i.e. the introduction of the cigar roller versus the work of the
individual, the fact that “lectores” were removed from factories in 1931, and Conchita’s need to be
loved physically versus watching her husband have what she does not).
In evoking the lost Cuban-American world of Ybor, Florida cigar factory in the late 1920’s,
I want to create a production that is as “novela-like” as the emotions and tribulations as its
characters. Anna in the Tropics creates characters that struggle for the philosophical need to know,
to understand, and to solve the problem of self-existence. It also creates an evolution and
realization of the power of art--how art can alter the beat, the murmurs, and the energy of the human
heart. As Cruz himself even said, it is like that old saying, “I read this book, and it changed the way
I see the world, or I saw this movie, and it changed my life.” What is the true power of language
and of words?
To answer this question, I feel that it is necessary to overlap Spanish and English as the
presentational languages in this play. It is important for me to make the audience struggle to
interpret language and story within this production, in the same way that the characters struggle
with understanding Cheché as the “Cuban-American” and a progressive thinker. I want the native
English speakers to feel uncomfortable having to read the Spanish super-titles, and the Spanish
speakers to feel the same ambiguity of understanding through the text itself. Language and words
or el idioma y las palabras are what change our lives—this is universal.
Cruz's writing needs to be supported by a stage design that allow for the movement of the
language and story, first-and-foremost. I am thinking of a space that would put the audience in
Ybor in 1929. I want an environment that ultimately evokes the smell,.
This document describes a project called "Pictures in My Ears" where the author intends to look at a photo for a short time and express the sounds they see in it in their own way, influenced by their emotional state. For the photo "Love and Freedom", the author created an entirely self-composed, played, and produced piece of music to represent what they saw and felt from looking at the photo.
1) The document discusses visual hierarchy and contrast in newspaper layout and design. Key elements like headlines, images, and articles are given varying amounts of space and prominence to indicate their relative importance.
2) Contrast in elements like size, color, and formatting (bold, italics) help guide the reader's attention and create a visual hierarchy on the page.
3) Consistent formatting and layout cues help readers easily navigate the newspaper and find key information like letters and commentary.
The document summarizes 8 shots from a movie trailer and analyzes how each shot uses cinematography techniques or story elements to engage the audience. Some of the shots analyzed include an over the shoulder mid shot of a husband and wife to establish their relationship, a panning long shot of a car chase to convey the fast-paced action genre, and the title shot with smoke in the background to create an eerie atmosphere.

THE POWER OF VISIONARY ART – EVOLUTION OF CONSCIOUSNESS
Bucharest May 22nd 2014 7PM Hosted by Matei Georgescu – From the series: Spirituality Serving Education Spiru Haret University – Sociology-Psychology
Department Presenter: Howard G Charing, co-author of ‘Plant Spirit Shamanism’ and ‘The Ayahuasca Visions of Pablo Amaringo’

Moderator: Assoc. Prof. Ph. D. Matei Georgescu, Spiru Haret University.
In this seminar, I will be exploring the mystery that visionary art reveals and how the visionary experience can change either an individual or the world. Visionary artists inspire us to look beyond the veil of cultural and linguistic limitations. At this unique time of evolving human consciousness the artificial boundaries in many areas between art and science are being erased. The brilliant Mathematician Benoit Mandelbrot has shown us how to perceive the world in a totally new way by introducing the concept of Fractal Geometry and a new way to understand consciousness similar to that of visionary and spiritual art. I will also discuss the unique visionary art of the Shipibo peoples of the Amazon. Their art unites the vibrations of light, colour, and sound into a new form. I will be presenting and discussing the works of the visionaryartists; Alex Grey, Paul Laffoley, David ‘Slocum’ Hewson, and Pablo Amaringo
Soplo del Banco Puma by Pablo Amaringo
The banco puma is a master shaman who transforms himself into a puma to go hunting or to hide from an enemy. In the old days when people in the Ucayali region did not have fire arms to kill large animals, the banco puma would use his ability to bring back food for his family. <p>
When the shaman transforms himself into a puma he acquires its attributes; in particular a keen sense of smell, and sinchi-ňahui (strong eyes) which can mesmerise an enemy. A banco puma is a skilled healer with great knowledge of medicinal plants.

The worldwide media interest in Benny Shanon's paper about Moses and entheogens, is encouraging us to take a good and hard look at the roots of religions and the notion that they were based on fertility cults, and shamanic practices such as Entheogens (or hallucinogenic) plants as a source of spiritual communion with the universal consciousness, or the mind of God.

A review in 'El Dominical' of the art exhibition 'Amazonica' - held at the Centro Cultural Ricardo Palma in Lima, Peru - June - July 2011.
A crude translation of the feature;
Forty Amazon artists from different generations, trends and styles come together in a charity show at the Centro Cultural Ricardo Palma de Miraflore. The objective is to obtain funding to develop cultural programs for children in our forest.
The Amazon is a woman, "says the artist Gino Ceccarelli." And a woman is the most beautiful display of creation ". That's why his paintings are always women who are merged with nature, relating to the many stories he heard as a child about the mythical goddesses, counted wise river towns, who met at sunset to watch the death of the sun between infinite forest. draws on ancient wisdom of founding myths of ancient explanations of the world, but also more contemporary material flows. This communion is rooted in the Amazonian wealth of art today. There are pictures to prove themselves by Gino Ceccarelli (Italian father and mother Amazon), based on myths and legends, or the whole aesthetic of pop and kitsch Christian Bendayán or visual strength of Harry Chavez.
A powerful art
The discovery of the Amazon by Lima has revealed, among other things, a powerful art that draws on ancient wisdom of founding myths of ancient explanations of the world,

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375
The Book of Ruth is included in the third division, or the Writings, of the Hebrew Bible. In most Christian canons it is treated as one of the historical books and placed between Judges and 1 Samuel.

The Evolution of the painting 'Chacruna Versucum (Canción de la Chacruna)' - by Pablo Amaringo
1. CHACRUNA VERSUCUM ‐ Canción de la Chacruna
BY PABLO AMARINGO
The Story of a painting
Two versions of this painting are presented in the book 'The Ayahuasca Visions of Pablo Amaringo'.
We originally had Chacruna Versucum professionally photographed in April 2007. The following year
Pablo showed us a revised version of this work. This was an exception as he had painted over the
original canvas, and something
that he does not usually do. Pablo
commented that on reflection he
regretted repainting the canvas,
and this is one of the reasons we
felt it important to include both
versions. We talked with him to
understand his thinking and de‐
velopment between the two
paintings.
Versucum is a Latin word mean‐
ing “verse,” or “canto.” (Note
that both versions are dated 2003
on the paintings.)
Chacruna Versucum 2003 Version (Summary Narrative)
The five dryads sing gently to heal through the circle of chacruna leaves; they transmit love and heal‐
ing energy. These fairies accompany the plants of the rainforest. They represent the five outer senses,
and the many inner faculties which are derived from them: intelligence, consideration, knowledge,
discernment, spiritual perception and wisdom. In the central circle the celestial aspects of chacruna
are represented by the circle of leaves while the ayahuasca vine represents the Earth.
2. Pablo said “After I had painted the
earlier version, I realized that cha‐
cruna has many other attributes and
I wanted to emphasise its celestial
aspects. This is the reason why I
have painted this second”
Chacruna Versucum 2007 Version (Summary Narrative)
This is the second version of the painting which was painted on top of the first. In the centre
Pablo added the triangle of life to represent body, soul and spirit, and the triangular geometry of
the human body. The triangle has an eye on each corner to symbolise intelligence, wisdom and
the merging of wisdom with ignorance. Our inner depths are reflected through our eyes.
Pablo adds the golden horses around the circle to represent the energy from working with aya‐
huasca and also elaborates on how the yacurunas kidnap the man fishing from his canoe in the
cocha.
