The Everglades in Florida are known for their clear water beaches and soft sand as well as being a fascinating natural area. The Everglades became a national park in 1947 and had over 1 million visitors in 2007. It has undergone extensive draining and land clearing over the past 100 years but still features unique natural areas and habitats.
