The Dutch government is organized into three levels: local, provincial, and national. At the local level, the country contains 418 municipalities each with their own elected municipal council and mayor. Provincially, there are 12 regions each with their own elected provincial assembly and governor appointed by the Queen. Nationally, general elections occur every 4 years to elect the House of Commons and Senate, and the executive committee consists of the Prime Minister, Ministers, and the Queen.
