The Colosseum in Rome was an amphitheater built during ancient Rome that was capable of housing close to 50,000 people and took between eight to ten years to construct. It remains one of the largest tourist attractions in Rome, though EU citizens can enter at a subsidized rate and Europeans under 18 and over 65 can enter for free.
